2019 Branching

From Norwich, my son reports;
One Cadet at the top of her ROTC class got her third choice, Ordnance.
One of the lowest scoring Cadets got MI, Branch Detail Infantry.
 
More news from Norwich per DS:

It seems that all but 2 of the Engineering Students Branched OD.

DS had OD - EOD as second choice (was pre-qualified at Ad. Camp), Branched OD. Does anyone know if they get the chance to compete for EOD spots after BOLC?

979 for WP, 3112 for ROTC
WP branched Combat Arms at a much higher percentage in combat arms.
WP 2 got CM, ROTC 97.
Colin Powell said at Norwich on the 100th Anniversary of ROTC, "they always thought of us as the Christmas help."
 
Is there a list anywhere of the abbreviations for the branches. I did google it but couldn’t find OD.
 
Here is a list. Of course several branches require graduate degrees (DE, JA, etc) and thus new 2LT'S are not eligible to request.

WP increased the percentage branched to Combat Arms (Old term) this year by about 5%.

This year the percentage was raised to 75%, when the branch details were added the total was 81%. If they do raise the percentage by 5% each year until they reach a base of 90% it would mean the total including branch details would be somewhere close to 96%. I guess if your goal is a branch something other then combat arms, WP may not be the right choice. I didn't see the annual percentage rate increases mentioned in this years article from WP on their Branch Night.

Even with the increases, when you factor in the branch details it looks like ROTC will still commission more officers that will be headed to Combat Arms then WP, ROTC branched 426 more officers to Combat Arms before you factor in the branch details. The numbers would end up being closer.

This appears to be true and is an interesting observation. The disparity in percentage in infantry for WP vs. AROTC is staggering. On that AROTC chart above, I am having a hard time determining how many of the slots, by branch, are Active duty vs. Reserve component. Can anybody else decipher it?
 
The ROTC chart posted is ALL Active Duty

There are another approximately 3000 2LTs going NG/Reserve according to FY19 Army budget documents
