AROTC PMS INTERVIEW

Hello guys, I would like to preface this with this is entirely my fault due to mismanagement and I may be screwed...
Moving on from that —.. I as of today have all of my official mandatory documents uploaded and they are waiting approval in addition with my academic information.

Due to pending I am unable to see the PMS tab about scheduling an interview. Despite my stuff still processing am I able to go do an interview anyways or do I need to wait for everything to be approved.

In addition the scholarship completion is due December 28th, almost every school on my list is starting break next week, in addition to most schools across the nation. If my schools are on break is my chance of getting a PMS interview doomed??? Any suggestions to make this possible!? Thank you guys so much if you read through this and any suggestions are so so appreciated so I can get this interview done.

If your scholarship does not say "interviewee" i personally wouldn't schedule one yet. If the PMS is willing to do an interview with you during their school's break, then you should still be able to submit by the second board.

I suppose it depends on what's missing. A key factor, I would think, is what can the PMS see. I would think there wold be helpful information to them for their interview.

You might be able to interview over the holiday break, but these folks have families and lives outside the military as well, and may very well be traveling. I'm sure it sill depend on their availability.

Remember that the process is not run by machines, but rather by people. There is nothing wrong with contacting the ROTC cadre at the institution you wish to interview with and requesting their availability. If they have time, they may be able to go ahead and pencil you in, pending your application approval. That would be the smart, proactive thing to do. Be polite and professional and it shouldn't be viewed poorly by the cadre (and if it is, then that should be a warning flag about that institution's ROTC cadre).

Your military career will be full of waiting on paperwork to go through while seeing deadlines getting closer and closer. The ability to adapt and overcome is what separates an effective military leader from those who sit around and let things happen to them.

Have you called any schools and asked them about an interview. Us strangers on the discussion board aren’t going to be as much help to you as talking to a ROO or PMS’s secretary at your school of choice.

The program can see much of what you have uploaded. If you were looking to interview at Clarkson we would check the PMS’s calendar to make sure he was available and we would make sure you have transcripts and SAT/ACT grades posted and your essays are done. Some programs would interview you before your PFT scores are posted, but it’s preferable that you have that done too. Stop wasting time asking strangers for advice and start calling or emailing the programs.

Personally, while your package is still in processing mode, I'd take the initiative and call to get on the PMS' schedule at your top choices now. Just one viewpoint.

Last year, my son was in a very similar position. He was seeking scholarship support for an EE degree - and especially desiring to use the degree earned to become a pilot in the USAF.

He took the time to contact the detachment commanders at Clemson and South Carolina. One school separated itself from the other by their interest: They returned ALL calls, my son had face to face discussions with three different officers at three different times. The other school, (yawn) not so much as a returned telephone call.

Needless to say, my son is finishing his first semester at South Carolina and proud to be a member of the AF/ROTC.
