BEAT NAVY!!!

Seems like a lot of excuses

No excuses...just fact. The average Midshipman doesn't give a damn about prowess on the Prade field. It's something to be endured, and everyone wants to do well enough that their Company doesn't catch sh!t from the Battalion Officer for not doing well on the graded prades and marchovers. (Been there, done that -- Saturday remedial prade practice is not fun, particularly when your girlfriend flies in to town for a visit). Marchovers to games are really the most orderly way to get 4000 people from Pt A. to Pt B). The Woops take it a lot more seriously.
(Yes, we have the Marine Corps, but most of the Marine Corps types get assigned as Prade judges and don't march with the Company).

Navy folk happily leave all moving formations ashore to the Army.
. Can't believe that is coming from a former BattO ! I thought that BattO's just lived for Prade scores. :):)

This is going to come as a shock...the average cadet doesn't give a damn about prowess on the parade field either. They just do it right because A) not that hard and B) that's professionalism.

Discipline, organization, details, and pride should be important in all components of the military, or private enterprises for that matter. I have always been surprised that USNA is okay with it's sloppy March On; particularly in light of the fact that it is on public stage.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Moving on to more interesting topics . . .
I was only there because I wanted to jump into the reflection pool with my companymates

Sadly, they have discontinued (disallowed) the practice of jumping into a body of water following the Color Parade. (For us, it was the Severn River b/c the reflection pool had been removed). For a while, the plebes of the company carried the company commander to (I think) Lejeune and dumped him/her in the pool. Not sure even that happens now. I was describing to some current mids what we did and they seemed to wish they could do it today (see, there are some advantages to the "good old days"). Must admit, it was a highlight of Commissioning week!

Love hearing these excuses...Just before your march on, why not have CBS post a disclaimer..."We here at USNA don't take parades seriously...We'll spend your tax money on other things like grease for our annual pole dance and new issue dollies."

Why do I bring this up??? My aunt, who has absolutely no military experience other than viewing my A-Day parade, told me over the phone that you folks looked like crap. She loved your tilted caps and the gum chewing in your ranks especially...

Actually, I think USNA really upped their game this year by NOT having the midshipmen wear any bling/pins. It was a step in the direction of appearing to be like the military.

My apologies for my offensive comments on this thread. Very juvenile of me. Neither my son and I are Academy grads but have and are serving at the spear’s tip where many of the Brigade and Corps will also be. I watched my first Army/Navy game in black and white at about age eight. I was enthralled. This is more than a game of course. It’s a tradition and a national treasure. Good natured ribbing is one thing, but getting down right mean should be saved for the Alabama/Tennessee game. I’m a Bama fan. We truly hate UcheaT. Or L8U. We’ve beaten the Bayou Bengals eight straight times.

Go Navy Go Army
