Wonder if someone can shed light on how the portal updates to reflect an appointment. Will an email go out notifying of change of status? Will a denial be posted? Out DD is chexking mutliple times daily. This could be a long 3 months!

From what I know, an email goes out with "USNA Application Status Change" in the subject line. Status will also change in candidate portal.

Agree with the posts above.
Ideally, the Candidate will receive a phone call from the Nominating MOC's office first. After that info will appear in the portal. So... Candidates should get into the practice of actually answering phone calls, especially from numbers that they don't know. I say this because young people today seem to reject this common courtesy, and because my Mid was on a long run when his call came in from our Senator's office. He stopped mid-stride to take the call... which was one of the happiest moments of his young life!

Or they are bombarded with fake phone calls and telemarketers ... so they only answer known numbers.

We actually had a land line the Congressman's Staff called on. Left a message to return the call (which he did...only to receive a voicemail at 5:10 p.m.). He was dying to call the next day in the a.m. but Mom had checked the portal and he was Fully Qualified Offer of Appointment! He got up early and said, "I'm dying to call!" I said you don't have to...and showed him his portal - one of the most memorable moments in both of our lives!

Very true. As are we all. However, I've heard it said that sticking one's head in the sand... sure leaves some pretty sensitive parts exposed.
