My DS got his Nom from MOC (Dist14) for OH and we’re told the same thing. Waiting and prayers for a BFE. Good luck to you and your DS hopefully we will be able to represent OH together!!

I received my appointment certificate today but I thought the BFE along with all its paperwork came in the spring regardless of when the appointment was offered?
 
You’ll get the PTR, Permit to Report, package with your To Do stuff.

Congratulations. The BFE is, I think, theoretically and literally bigger than the Thin White Envelope/The Worst Email with the news of no offer of appointment. It’s not that big in and of itself.

@TANG I think they only send the BFE once you fully accept. I am not sure though. I have not received the BFE or Appointment Certificate, just three forms on the portal after I accepted (body alteration, police record, citizenship). Just to be clear, should I be awaiting an Appointment Certificate and BFE?
 
DS’s BFE receipt popped up in my FB memories today...one year ago. What a great day!

The BFE is a padded hard blue folder, two sided, with a nice “congratulations” appointment letter on one side and a picture on the other. It is the thing you display proudly at your graduation party and then on the mantel. It comes soon-ish after you accept your appointment in your portal.

The PTR (permit to report pack) comes in the summer. It’s actually thicker than the BFE, and contains all the papers and instructions that are to be completed by a given date. It’s more of a mass mailing that everyone receives around the same time. It gets even thicker after you make a copy of everything BEFORE you fill it out in case you mess up, and then even thicker after you make two copies of the completed forms (one to have on your person on iday, one in your parents possession in case something happens to yours on Iday).

3 yrs ago DS received appointment a week after nomination mid January. DS2 is still waiting & he revieced nom much earlier. Can it be due to PA redistricting? Anyone else redistricting & still waiting?

My DD is in a district that changed also and received 2 noms and still waiting. I think that some of the PA districts are so competitive that we may not here until after the application deadline. I think your DS has a leg up with a sibling at USNA. Hopefully it is good news! Good luck!
 
@marinemom2023 yes PA is very competitive, but I’ve heard if you are 3Q with nom than you have 50% chance of appointment. That is what I read on this forum somewhere.
 
On my DS's portal, it still says Conditional Letter of Appointment even though he no longer has any conditions left to meet. He received his nomination and has been cleared by DoDMERB. At some point does it change to an appointment? Do you only get a BFE if you accept the appointment? I thought you receivs the package when you are appointed and if you decide not to attend, you notify the Academy?
