I have read same. We also are in a competitive district (Atlanta) and USNA portal updated with Sen/Con noms 11/16 and 12/4 respectively. Still hopeful, but I am a wreck.

Absolutely. It will change to "Fully Qualified Offer of Appointment" with the ability to "Accept" online. The Offer of Appointment comes in the "BFE" (Big Friendly Envelope) whether you decide to accept or decline.
Typically, it is posted online first and the BFE shows up 7-10 days later.

DS has accepted his appointment to USMA. We never thought that he would be given to opportunity to choose between these two incredible academy’s. Best of luck to all you outstanding young men and women on receiving your appointments.

How long does it take for the BFE to arrive? Received appointment in mid December. Accepted appointment at the end of December. I knew admissions was out on break when I received the appointment and accepted it, but I thought after the first of the year the BFE might get here.

I sent in forms on body markings and citizenship a week ago. Had city and county police send in police background forms.

My DS got his Nom from MOC (Dist14) for OH and we’re told the same thing. Waiting and prayers for a BFE. Good luck to you and your DS hopefully we will be able to represent OH together!!

May I respectfully recommend an avatar that is anonymous, suitable for an online forum of anonymous posters? There are very, very few actual head shots or full face photos in avatars here. It’s for the protection and privacy of all. It might not be a good idea to be identifiable down the road.
 
Good Luck to all applying for the class of 2023. My DS was an applicant of class of 2021, received a nomination, but did not receive the appointment. He did not give up, went to College for a year and reapplied for the class of 2022. He got his nomination, but did not receive the Appointment until much later (Mid March). He just completed his first semester and was ranked AOM(Academic Order of Merit) #1 of 1182, and OOM (Overall Order of Merit) #22 of 1182. Not bad for being turned down the first time. I only point this out to let you all know that the admissions office is not perfect and even kids that should get in, do not always make it the first time. It is not a perfect science. The year in college gave him the ability to validate a ton on classes, which is now going to allow him to double major. It was an absolute blessing in disguise. EVERYONE wants to make it the first time, but if any of you out there find that you did not make it, Re-Apply, Re-Apply, Re-Apply. I can't even tell you how wonderful this place is. It is worth not giving up on. It is hard, but absolutely worth it. I wish all of you students out there the best of luck, do not give up!! To you parents, do not stress. You raised kids that were smart enough to apply to the USNA, they will do just fine.
