Army ROTC Scholarship is out!

Theyll be a bunch of last minute applicants with better scores who will jump me in the OML on the next board, so I’ll have to be looking more towards plan B

The majority of new applicants have there packets in by the second board, you won't see that large number of new applicants for the third board. The third board will give out about the same number of scholarships as were given by the second board. The second board has the biggest shift in the OML due to the large umber of new applicants, the third board will not have as large a shift.

Don't give up yet and remember this is only one path to a scholarship, and a scholarship is not required to become an Army Officer.

For those of you who didn't win a scholarship this board (my son included) know that each winner has the opportunity to not take the offer and many applied to multiple branches of ROTC. Keep working hard and talk to each school that you are thinking about going to and let them know you would like to try an earn a scholarship while attending their school. There is still hope for you down the line.

DS received a 4-year Army scholarship to his top 3 schools (one of which he has not been admitted to yet)! He will have to get a medical waiver, which he has fortunately already started due to his West Point application, but happy afternoon in flyover country.

He has not received any contact at all from the ROO or PMS at 2 of these schools. He did hear from the ROO at 1 back in December when he completed his application.

I won’t have the financial means to do ROTC even non-scholarship unless I get one.

A 4 year means they can contract the start of their freshman year and they will the scholarship for all 4 years.

The 3 year means they will be in ROTC from the start but their scholarship will not start until the start of their sophomore year as long as they meet all the requirements.

Didn’t get selected. Shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up, knew this would happen.
Chin up! There is still one more board. Also keep in mind the Army is in growth mode and needs officers. Go for a run and clear your head. Get in the best physical shape of your life and sign up for ROTC in college. Battalion scholarships are always a possibility. Stay focused and positive.

I was informed that I received a 4 year Navy Scholarship Wednesday and 4 year Army today, what a week! Now I just need to get accepted into my schools...

Our family is in the same boat....its 3rd board, Hip pocket, or Enlistment. I understand, it can be frustrating, worrisome, and quite scary. As a parent, I see how hard my son has worked and studied, but it is still out of his (and mine) control.

Have you checked to see if you qualify for FAFSA

Is there an in state university close enough to you that has ROTC that you could live at home while you compete for a battalion scholarship, if so it would be good to make sure that it's on your list of schools.

Also as it's been said, there is still one more board.

Don’t qualify for FAFSA, parents would like me out.

You will have 30 days to accept or decline the AROTC Scholarship, if your not sure which to accept or you're still waiting to see what schools you are accepted to you are allowed to accept both scholarships. Once you make up your mind where to go you would then decline the one you don't use.

How do we accept? What are the next steps in general? I know we have to qualify for DODMERB etc. but how do I schedule such a screening?

Thank you! Also, I received a 3 year scholarship. There's a chance this could get upgraded before the Fall 2019 term, correct?

You will get a BFE in the mail. It'll have a certificate in a plastic cover.

In the packet will be a couple forms. One of the forums has the list of 3-4 schools that Cadet Command will give you an option. You indicate which school you will designate the scholarship and sign the form accepting it. I think I had to sign it too because my DD is only 17 years old.

You can snail mail the form back or upload into your portal.

I think my DD had 2 weeks to decide which school she will designate the scholarship and return the form.

There's a chance, just not a big one. The better chance would be that the scholarship could be upgraded once you start ROTC if you have great grades at your midterm and knock the APFT out of the park when you arrive at school and if the battalion has upgrades to offer.
