DS in same boat after this board.DD is still B/UC and the message updated that she was not selected in this board and is still under consideration for the March board. Congrats to all winners from this board; everyone else, hang in there! Improve your files, work Plab B, it’s not over yet!
Me thinks Clarkson is about to take some names and kick some ass.....My son applied for the January boards and just received his phone call. He got 4 year ROTC to Georgia Tech and Auburn University.
Which one of those schools called??

Have a question about the binding nature of the 3 yr AD award. If my son participates for the first year and decides that AROTC is not for him, will he have any obligation? I understand that with the 4-yr the obligation begins immediately. Thanks.

4-year scholarship obligation does not begin immediately.
Your DS can use the 4-year scholarship and walk away without any payback after the first year if he decides it's not for him.
Once he attends the first day of classes as sophomore, then he's committed.
Can a 3 YR AD winner in the 2nd round stay in the pool for a 4 YR scholarship in the 3rd round? If not, do the school programs every award that 4th year for a freshman? Or by accepting the 3 yr are we set with 3 years of scholarship and one year (freshman) out-of-pocket?Have a question about the binding nature of the 3 yr AD award. You are done...you have a 3 year offer. At the end of the process some 3 ADs get upgraded to 4 year scholarships, but you don’t recompete. Can a 3 YR AD winner in the 2nd round stay in the pool for a 4 YR scholarship in the 3rd round? Remember that you are allowed to accept the offers from all three programs if you haven't made up your mind which to take. At some point you will need decline the offers you don't want but you can hold them for a while until you decide.
Thanks. Any process involved with potential upgrades? Would working with ROO at his school of choice (where he got the scholarship to) make a difference? I.E. can they advocate? You are done...you have a 3 year offer. It would be in your best interest to start working with the schools to come up with a plan to pay for the first year. Keep in mind at most colleges you aren’t paying the sticker price, and having your final three years fully paid for will help convince the school to kick in a little extra to keep you around (in most cases). I would tell you that Clarkson is very generous to our 3 year winners. Not the free first year Montana is going to remind us about soon, but still a bargain for a year at a quality school.
