Is this a passing CFA score?

I know it isn't good but is it passing?

BB throw: At least 50 (I didn't see what I had here, I just know it went over the half mark)
Pull ups: 6
Shuttle: 8.88
Push ups: 42~
Sit ups: 60~
Mile: 8:30

I recently re-took the CFA during my visit to West Point but I messed up on two of the events (bb throw and shuttle) causing me to get lower scores than when I took it the first time

I have to take a PFT for the NROTC scholarship on Friday, and my schedule's already packed so it would be hard to have the CFA before the 1/31 deadline.

Plus, it would suck to take two PT tests back to back. I'm not sure if I should be worried about these scores

I searched through my emails and I can't find a message indicating that I failed, but I did get a message from AFA saying that I failed.

I didn't get a nom, but I was told that there's still a chance for me, academically speaking, to go to NAPS.

(Also, would this be good for USMMA? I was going to submit this score there as well)(

My best guess is that the mile time is not going to be a pass. Looking at a standard Navy PRT for Sailors age 17-19 you are passing right at 12:45 meaning you would have to maintain the same pace for another half mile of your current mile time. More importantly you are applying to Lead these Sailors and as such you need to be shooting for higher scores than that. I realize applying means you are the beginning of this journey but the effort on the test which is a known quantity is an easy discriminator for the Academies.

You can use your Naval Academy CFA scores for your NROTC AFA if you have the same coach report the scores and sign off. You are allowed to do this because the NROTC only has Push-ups, sit-ups, and a 1 mile run with the same time requirement (for each event) as the USNA. If you get your mile time down you’ll pass. I scored similarly in the events (I don’t remember exactly but I got around) sit ups: 65 Push-ups: 55 B-Ball throw: 68 ft? Maybe 75? Pull ups: 2 shuttle run: ( I don’t remember but it was good) and 1 mile: 6:14. I’m also a big rugby guy while still in the height and weight restrictions (which the academy knew) and so I passed. Do the best you can do with the gifts you have been given and you’ll do fine!

I assume you're a male. Agree that the 8:30 probably won't cut it. I suggest you contact your RD tomorrow and ask. (While your BGO will eventually know, it might not post to his/her system before Thursday). This is always the risk in waiting until the last week to take the CFA.

Yeah, male

My BGO informed me that it was showing "qualified" and that I wouldn't have to worry about retaking the CFA, so I was a bit confused there

What is the point of this thread, then?

So if your BGO said you passed in the portal then what are you confused about? If you received info you failed from USAFA, then you need to be speaking to your ALO.

It is possible to pass for one SA and fail for another. The test is the same but the grading/interpretation can differ.

I was paranoid because the mile time was low ;_;

Is it at least good for USMMA?

I would tread lightly on the "at least" when referring to another academy, were I you. It makes it sound as though you don't attach as much importance to it, as you do with say, USNA. People around here can be pretty touchy (and rightly so) about having their Alma mater's significance downplayed.

You need to review the requirements for each academy in which you are interested. They have different requirements.

With a few minutes of googling effort, you can find the CFA maximums and averages and you will have a very good idea of how you stack up. To save you the effort, here you go:

I hit enter too early. Here you go and this should give you an idea of how you stack up:

Max USMA USAFA

Bball: 102 67 70

Pull ups: 18 9 12

Shuttle: 7.8 9.1 8.4

Sit ups: 95 72 81

Push ups: 75 54 63

Mile: 5:20 6:43 6:12
