Good morning.... We could use some guidance on having my sons DD368 form completed. He won a 3 year National Scholarship and is currently a freshman in college. He enlisted his junior year of high school in Army Reserves and completed basic that summer. The Commanding General signed the DD368 form Approving his release. The release is valid until 20190614. Now we are at a stand still. What is the next step? Who is responsible for the actual release... the recruiter or ROO at college? Another concern is that he will not be able to contract until first day of sophomore year and the release is valid until June 2019. Can he actually be released before he contracts in September? Would appreciate any assistance! Thank you!

This is a question for your son's chain of command, and one for him to ask.

I appreciate your concern, but parental involvement in the enlistment contracts of military members is not a good look for your son.

What you have described sounds like a break in service to me, but I'm just a random person on an Internet forum.

He needs to run this question through his chain of command. First stop is his current USAR supervisor.

Thank you for your response. He understands the chain of command and is handling things accordingly. Just looking for a little guidance and direction. Section 8 of the DD368 still needs to be completed and wasn't sure who this should be directed to. The recruiter has washed his hands. ROO has been contacted and he has drill in a couple weeks so he will ask then. Thanks again.

Have him send the release to his ROO and unit HR , they should know where it goes. He should hi old follow up weekly until he has confirmation he is in fact released.

Thank you... he spoke to his ROO and he wants his reserve unit to have the date changed to the end of August to allow time for him to contract the beginning of his Sophomore year. It took 8 months to get to this point. Hoping he doesn’t lose his scholarship.
