Hello, I just recently talked with my blue and gold office and he let me know that I recieved the final check for academics and I’m now triple qualified. Does admissions go through and qualify application for academics and then they’re sent to be voted on?

Can my BGO tell me if I am triple Qed? Should I ask if they haven't told me?

I think any question can be asked *in a politely worded email* if you think it’s worth your time, but mine didn’t even know if I passed the CFA so I wouldn’t get your hopes too high! BGOs are all different.

BGOs are told to not inform a candidate if they are 3Q. Some BGOs inform candidates, and when I say some, very few. I would not recommend asking. BGOs also do not know CFA minimums, only admissions does. So your BGO would essentially find out the same way you do, a portal check in the box telling you that you passed. Although BGOs are very well trained about the process, there are lots of things like CFA score minimums and WCS formula that only those within admissions know.

During my interviews with candidates and parents, I explain the candidate will know their offer status before I do. I also ask if they could inform me of admission's decision. When I do get the phone call, we talk about "Plan B" and other options. Personally, I am not comfortable with one school being the "all or nothing" mindset some have.

When is the appropriate time for a HS jr to contact BGO or should DS wait for BGO to contact him once application is started and more complete?

If you look up old forum posts the standard advice is that if you have specific questions,it’s fine to send an email, but it’s not necessary until you open your application. I personally waited until I got a decent amount done and my BGO wanted 1/2 done to set up an interview but the first contact gave me a source to ask questions when I was confused.

I was going to NASS that June and had done a CVW Junior year, so I didn’t have many questions. I already had other times to ask them.

My b&g never directly said I was triple q, but he did say I recieved the academic check on my portal and I already knew that I passed the medical and cfa

It’s semantics ramgoat18, but the same thing. As you stated CFA and medical are known to a candidate. The last Q, scholastic, is the big unknown, and is not supposed to be disclosed. And just be clear, you didn’t do anything wrong. This is on the BGO, not you.

Thank you. I knew either way I would be receiving the academic q and I was more worried about medical/physical aspect. Knowing that we weren’t supposed to know this does it indicate anything? Is it standard for the application to be moved on to be voted on, or is this just another thing that shouldn’t be over analyzed?

It’s a great step in the fact it means you are eligible for an appointment. But other than that, it’s keep your fingers and toes crossed, pray if you are religious and work on Plan B. It can vary slightly years to year... 3Q + Nom has been about a 40% appointment rate the last handful of years. Hang in there, good luck.

Don't overthink this... you have the Admissions Board Q, and that's it. You've passed the first test ..fully qualified, but there are many , many 3Q candidates that don't get appointments. (That is probably why BGO's are not supposed to tell you if you are 3Q--it really doesn't mean anything). What really counts is how you rank in each nomination pool you are in.
