Hello all,

As of this moment, I am 3Q and have a congressional nomination. I received my 3Q letter back in early January of this year. I know that most appointments will be tendered between February 26 and May 1st, however recently a friend who goes to my school, received an appointment with a congressional, presidential and senator nomination. I was wondering if this lowered my chances of receiving an appointment into the academy. Sorry if I seem impatient. (Both of our congressional nominations are from the same district.) Thank you all for your help and have a great day!

Thank you all for your help at this moment, I have question however, if my friend was appointed to the academy through the presidential or senator nomination, does this mean that for our congressional nomination, he is taken out of that competition to receive the number one slot for an appointment?

Read various threads here.

They will manipulate the noms how they want to get the candidates they want.

You just don’t know. If your WCS is strong enough, they will find a spot for you.

@A1Janitor is correct, although I see what is behind your question. The theoretical answer is yes, if your friend is charged to a different slate then you could still win the MOC slate. But very likely it should not matter one way or the other. In many districts, multiple people from the slate will receive offers of appointment. There are many threads here which demonstrate this. For starters, there are typically around 2,200 applicants who are 3Q+NOM. Ultimately around half end up at the Academy, so you can do the math and see that far more than just the ~670 slate winners receive offers. Your WCS is the primary factor at this point. Best wishes to you.

Nate. Do not despair. Where we live there are often a few kids from one school that earn appointments to the same service academy each year. Focus on what you can control--and you have done a great job by becoming 3Q with a nom. The odds are in your favor.
What are your other plans? Arm ROTC? To a great university? Are you still waiting to hear from that university too?
Keep faith. Remember, someone else's appointment does not impact your appointment.

You are 3 Q'd.... Did you send your awesome 7th semester transcript yet? That can only help you.
Congratulations! Now...your watch begins... Keep Faith. (It will be hard to see other people post on the appointment thread; however, this just shows you that the Admissions Board is hard at work--and it could be you next week or next month.) Hang tough. Keep working out. Love on your parents! Take them to the Lego Movie.

I have already been accepted into my other college! At this moment I am just waiting for West Point. Crossing my fingers and hopeful for an appointment!
