DS is USMA '21; just learned he will be an exchange cadet at CO Springs fall semester of this year. Really enjoyed his visit to USAFA 2 yrs ago; it was tough choice. I'm looking forward to hearing his thoughts after this experience, will share his input come December. His TAC plebe year was a USAF major; glad to see him seeking out opportunities like this.

For all incoming cadets/mids etc remember there are countless opportunities apart from the standard academy experiences; be sure to take advantage of what is offered.

Congrats!! That’s awesome!

Congratulations! Hope he has fun and we look forward to hearing about his experiences! I expect selections are pretty tough; and this means he's pretty much top of his class? (Congrats again!)

There are slots for 7-8 cadets from each academy at each other academy every year. Don't know how many typically apply but it is competitive; can be a pitfall academically depending on major, electives, etc. So needs to be vetted ahead of time.

Also depends on what your major is as appropriate classes need to be offered at the respective exchange academy; DS did exchange from USAFA to USMA - had to line up his Mech Engr courses so he got the right ones in before/after the exchange and what he took at USMA. Was a great experience for him!
Highly recommend your DS takes advantage of either soaring or jump options while at USAFA.
USAFA Parents weekend is Labor Day weekend - highly recommend you attend - they can stay with you Friday night, be back for football game Sat am, then released to you til Monday around 6 - DS graduated in 2013 so times are what I remember. You can stay local or travel to Breckenridge, Denver, etc.
Congrats to your DS on his selection.

Just it just to be clear this isn’t a transfer. It’s a one semester exchange program.
