Do other SAs know your other CFAs ?

I recently submitted a passing CFA to USNA and USMMA, but I forgot to video my pull-ups and pushups for USMA.

Old Score: (already submitted to other SA's)
Pullups- 9
Pushups- 72
Mile Run- 7:00
Basketball- 99 ft
Shuttle- 8.3 sec
Situps- 95

New Scores with video:
Pullups- 4
Pushups- 70
Mile Run- 6:20
Basketball- 93 ft
Shuttle: 7.6 sec
Situps- 95

I don't know what happened to me. I died trying to lock out on my pull-ups. I'm worried that it'll affect my old CFA. I did pretty bad on my most recent one for USMA. Should I still upload this CFA? very disappointed.

What would happen if you did it again?

Would you get 9 or 4 pull-ups? Was the form the same when you got 9?

Yes it is the same; although, my old CFA was months ago. I haven't done pull-ups in a while. I just ran and ran which showed on my new CFA.

Running should have decreased your body weight and pullups shouldn’t have gone down that much.

How much time to do you to get them back up and redo it?

Pull-ups go up and down quickly. It's not an exercise that resembles anything most people do in real life, so it's easy to lose them.

Fortunately, if you work them into your daily workout, you should be back up at 9+ in a week or two. Muscle memory is real and it will come back fast.

If you were not taking in enough protein while you were doing all that running, then your body will strip your muscles for it. If you're going to run a lot (more than 10 miles a week), supplement your diet accordingly or you will thin out.

Your CFA score does not get sent automatically to all SAs. It doesn't work like DODMERB. USNA and USMMA would still have your higher score, provided you did not submit the new score to them.

You're right. I lost a good 7-8 lbs running. I felt lighter and better running 5+ miles than my old weight.

Deadline for USMA is Feb 28. I am planning to pull out because I feel like somebody else deserves this spot more than me. USNA is my top choice.

Look kid, don't ever make a decision based on a "feeling".

Instead, make a decision based on reason and logic with both your feet on the ground. Feelings are dangerous, easily influenced, and deceiving.

Quitting is never a good look for a servicemember. Go do some pull-ups and keep your name in there.

I tell my own kids, don’t close a door. Keep it open until it shut!

Don’t give up. There is more to you than pull-ups. Let the SA’s decide if YOU are a good fit for THEM.

Also, you pulling out doesn’t give the spot to the next person in line. It doesnt work like that.

Getting through hurdles (BC we don’t ALWAYS go OVER them....sometimes we crash and burn right through them...) is a skill they want. Grit. Determination. Keeping on in the face of seemingly defeat. They aren’t looking for a perfect person. Rather people who have failed and don’t give up.

Don’t give up! Do you best, then let them decide. I’m rooting for you!

This is exactly why the USMA wants the video tapes. Yes it will effect the way they look at your previously reported scores. By the way, at "R" day you are expected to do 6 pullups (at a minimum) or you are subject to dismissal if you are a man. They test you the first morning. They will not count any unless you go all the way down with arms fully extended and pull yourself up completely and touch your collar bone. Just getting your chin over will not work.

LOL then I have never done a pull up in my life! ;)

My son did 15 in December - he stopped working out at the start of basketball season. And will start working out again to prep for plebe summer.

He told me he can still do about 15 right now after 3 months off. Even if he were to drop off ... it wouldn’t take long to get back up.

You need to work for this OP.

To be honest, my DS was doing more than 18. He worked on the PT test for years. When he got there on "R" day they would not count them because he was not touching his collar bone. He had trained to pull up to his chin. He called me on the first call and said "Dad this is not joke. I had a hard time getting 6 to the standard they wanted". It was an eye opener for him on the first day. Same thing on the first PT test. They kept telling him to go lower on his push ups. He said he was literally bouncing off the ground and they were still telling him to go lower.

So, that doesn't make any sense for a proper fitness assessment. Pushups are easier if you go all the way down to where your chest rests on the ground. It sounds like that was more of a motivational exercise than a physical assessment.

And if you max pullups to failure in between sets as part of a standard weight-lifting regimen, you will easily reach 20+ from a cold start in a few weeks. At least I did, and I am no Arnold.

If you "rest" on the ground you are suppose to be disqualified. I think the standard is to go down until your upper arm is parallel to the ground. However, your post is the point. He felt they were just giving him a hard time on the first test and the first time they did pull ups. He felt they did this to start setting the standard from day one and show him that he was just a normal guy at the Academy. The first PT test does not count in your grade. The second one does at Beast. On the first PT test that actually counted, he scored a 342 on the extended scale. He was told two other plebes had higher scores. One woman and one wrestler.

Under the existing Army PFT, yes. The new one will have changes to the overall pushup procedure.

I'll leave the topic alone there, we have strayed from the OP.
