I am a recruited athlete. I received an LOA in January after MOC interviews were conducted. Unfortunately I did not receive a nomination. The coach acted like this was not a problem, but everything I have read on this forum indicates otherwise. Thoughts?

Hope for a VP nom (assume you applied) or a Supe’s nom. No news is good news at this point.
Have your Plan B ready to go.

A lot factors can come into play. VP or Supts nom can come into play. Really comes down to how much the coach wants you, what sport it is and lots of other things. All you can do is wait. Good luck!

You may also be sent to NAPS. A nom is not required to be selected for NAPS. However, You'll need to pursue a Nom while at NAPS as one of the requirements for subsequent USNA appointment.

I have nothing to add but I’m pulling for you.

I wonder if MOCs know what they are doing. Our MOC staff told me that there were a lot of apps for nominations for USNA and said that one of them was a recruited offensive lineman for football ... but they don’t have to give noms for athletes.

If you have any doubt just watch C-SPAN......

Now back to your regular programming.

Why would a parent be talking to MOC staff?

I know while my interview was being conducted, my mom sat in the lobby and talked with some of the staff members about nominations and the process and such. It's not that uncommon.

I dropped my son’s nomination off - sealed envelope ... he had a test that day and couldn’t drive there.

The staff was very nice. And offered a few minutes of pleasantries ... told me that they got a lot more noms than usual, USNA is the most popular followed by USMA, several football players, etc.

It was literally two minutes. Very nice guy. Saw him at a campaign event with MOC - didn’t talk to him - he was very busy.

My son communicated with him more ... he had the guys cell phone.

My son felt like all senators’ and MOC’s staff were nice. I didn’t go to any of he three interviews.
