Air Force Academy installs thousands of cameras for cadet safety

I have attempted to watch. Its pretty interesting!

Lots of negative unintentional messages sent with that...and I don't think common area surveillance will solve the assault problem.

In my experience with USNA, a combination of underage drinking/excessive drinking at off-Yard parties was a common setting for incidents to occur, not so much in Bancroft Hall on the Yard - but I do know there have been incidents that occurred in mids’ rooms. Some have been the eternally frustrating alcohol-involved he said-she said variety.

I’ll have to think about cameras as a deterrent and as a documentation source.

I agree, “thousands of cameras” seems to cast an aura of distrust over the whole group, most of whom don’t do bad stuff. That bothers me, and I have to work my way through command logic and expected outcomes.

I don't think cameras deter anything, but they can help get the bad guys. Deterrence only works for thinking people and clearly these perpetrators are not thinking. Just my two cents.
