USNA TWE

I unfortunately also received a TWE this year. Best of luck to you for next year's application, and good luck at your plan B!

@15navy_candidate. I think you should take @Old Navy BGO advice earlier in this thread … take some time to reevaluate, and maybe take a semester or 2 of college and reapply with a Stronger resume.

To all of you who received a TWE, I was in your situation last year and it is a possibility that I might be in it this year as well. Regardless, failure is not your reality and you should not accept it as such. I am a firm believer that failure is the stepping stone to success in whatever you do (I learned the hard way with boxing). Go through your first year of college and be open, but if your passion still burns for USNA then go for it and reapply. I will reapply until I'm too old because I want to attend that bad. Making through the application process in and of itself shows your character and dedication, it is something you should be proud of because not many make it all the way. I am by far not the most competitive candidate: my CFA scores are almost max, I had a 4.0 in HS (No AP's, some honors) and 4.0 in college so far (plebe year courses), I have a lot of community service but no team sports or team captain (as I said boxing and we do not have a captain), My SAT super score is 1180 and ACT composite is 24. I have other unique qualities in my application but the test scores are a real blemish. People told me I'm not good enough and will never make it, it is the same stuff I heard in boxing. Now I have 6.5 years of boxing experience and spar professional boxers as an amateur. I do not care what ANYONE says to me, I will make it in and the only way I won't is if I am too old or if USNA says I am medically unable to. All of you are unique with abilities that no one else has, just keep working hard for next year's cycle and I am positive your result will change. I am a religious young man, so I believe that the big man upstairs will take note of the sacrifices made and hard work done. Michael Irvin said it best, "Look up, get up, and don't ever give up". I believe in all of you, you all can do things beyond your imagination you just need to dig deep and find that spark in you. Best of luck to everyone in their future endeavors.

While perhaps cold comfort, keep in mind that there are other paths -- great paths -- to becoming an officer and serving your country. Many exceptional USN and USMC leaders have come from the ranks of ROTC, OCS and enlisted commissioning programs. Depending on your circumstances, one of the above may be a more effective route than USNA.

I don't for a minute want to discourage anyone from continuing to pursue an appointment to USNA. Only want to ensure you keep your eye on the ultimate prize, which (for those on this forum) is becoming a USN/USMC officer.

I know a lot of people said this, but I could stop myself from posting[emoji13]
Your post gave such a inspiring and strong message. I will look forward to seeing you in the naval academy (even though I wouldn't know who are are) and good luck!

@TomB - if I was in charge of the USNA admissions process I would offer you an appointment based on this post alone. Good luck.

After I read this post I had to sing the National Anthem and bust through some concrete walls with my bare hands.

TomB is a leader of men/women. I want him in my foxhole or cockpit.

Thank you all, no guarantees on my end but I will not give up. God bless.

Wholeheartedly agree, I'm just praying that I did all I could for USNA this year. I followed the sticky you posted to the tee and want to thank you for helping me increase the strength of my application from it. I'll just have to wait and see what happens. Again to those who received a TWE, good luck to all of you, you all have bright futures ahead of you.

Hello, I just wanted to post this because I just received a TWE for the class of 2023. Thank you to everyone here for the help and advice on the questions I have asked, however, this is not a goodbye. I will begin my application for the class of 2024 on April 1st when the preliminary application opens. I will end up at USNA, no matter what. Congrats to those who earned appointments and for those that don't, fear not because the only thing that can stop you from going to USNA is you.
Definitely keep that attitude. I applied for the class of 2022, got rejected, reapplied, and now I’ve been offered an appointment. It can definitely happen your second time around!

@Navyhopeful23 - I'm a father of a candidate and you continue to impress me with your attitude, willingness to share and help despite your unfortunate news. This is merely a small bump on a long great journey you will have. Look me up in 4-8 years and I'll hire you, you're going to have a great future!
