On the USMA side there is commentary that they are already into their NWL. Two questions for this forum:

1) how would they know that?
2) any idea if USNA has resolved all their slates and moved to the pool?

You won’t know it. And there is no way to know if USNA has resolved all slates. I have a candidate that hasn’t even been reviewed yet. Appointees can move around where they are charged. The committee who does this is putting together a giant puzzle. If one appointee got appointed early on had a Presidential and then a MOC Nom comes in they could then be moved to the MOC. They could also have a very high WCS so they could also fall in the top 150 of the WCS and be moved there for a Sec Nav nom. It’s complicated and constantly moving.

Thanks NavyHoops. I guess USMA has a different process, or they just have the BS and Conjecture machine cranked up to 11 over on the USMA forum.

Yes and yes ....

I don't view the West Point forum regularly, but do talk with my West Point counterpart from time to time. There are subtle differences in the USNA/USMA processes, and Candidates /Parents should be careful about assuming information they hear relating to USMA is applicable to USNA.

As to BS and Conjecture ...its not limited to the USMA forum...I caution everyone to take what you read from anonymous internet sources with a grain of salt. There is some good information on this Forum, but also plenty of chaff that can be misleading and cause unnecessary angst. As Hoops says, the process is complicated and constantly moving, and I sometimes cringe at the continuing effort here to reduce the process to a set of black and white rules. Keep in mind, many of the participants here have one data point to reference, and one data point doesn't make a trend or a rule.

As of February 21, the Dean of Admissions told us at the CVW that he has only given out about 40 percent of the appointments that will be given out this cycle. I don’t know how much has changed since then, but I can’t imagine all the slates have been resolved at this point. He also said that the admissions board is significantly behind this year when compared to previous years. I would think that a solid number of appointments will be coming the next few weeks.

I am not as familiar with USMA’s process, but I think the subtle difference is USMA states that once someone is reviewed and deemed 3Q and has a nom they all go to the NWL. So essentially they rack and stack all candidates. As they resolve slates, a candidate is removed. And the list is whittled down. I believe USMA is like USNA and takes the top 150 from the NWL and charges that to the Sec of Army. After that they can then take whomever they want from the list to round out the class. I am sure USMA-1994 can clear the details up or correct what I messed up.

I am a candidate for USNA, USAFA and USMA and my portal updated with this letter on 2/08. That is how I know I am 3Q and NWL for USMA. I do appreciate all of the feedback. But my mom has said that 'it is good to watch the forums, but better to be patient and share only knowledge you know is absolute'

I am sharing what I know is absolute since it came directly from the source. I am still CPR on the USNA portal and Complete on USAFA.

I don't think so. In the letter it says you can upload additional docs till the end of Feb 2019. The deadline was Feb 28th

I’m pretty sure you can
@Ramgoat18 Not sure where you are getting your information. Your answer is incorrect. The application process closed as @ThePatternisFull stated on January 31, 2019.

Personal experience. If you have any notable changes regarding awards, sports, etc. your file can get updated unless I’ve been emailing a random person that is just entertaining me lol

And your personal experience is how many years?

As an experienced BGO I have been told all application closed on January 31, 2019 and there were no more updates. Can you please tell when do applications close or does a candidate continue to update their application indefinitely?

I’m a first year applicant. I’m not trying to go around the forum making things up I’m just offering my knowledge from my experience Like I said “I’m pretty sure you can.”
I recieved an award after that deadline and I was able to update my application. In my case, it seems that I can update my file up to the twe or bfe. I haven’t had any problems doing so and I was never told not to

If your application has been reviewed by the board and found to be qualified. You are waiting for the slate to be ranked, a winner or winners chosen and offered an Appointment or Appointments. Please remember the application has closed. You may be emailing but I suspect nothing is done with the information. Think for a moment if everyone continued to update their application admissions would never be able to get a WCS and rank the slate.

That makes sense thank you.
