My nephew from Indiana received an appointment last month. He had received a LOA in the fall.

Without being too specific can you say what part he's from. Northern or Southern? If you post a few more messages I can pm you.

I would say he’s about in the middle! Sorry, I really don’t feel like it’s my place to say too much since he is my nephew, not my DS.
 
What's the story with rejections? Do they tend to be held until the very end or have they been rolling out along with the appointments? Just curious.

A little of both. After January 31, Admissions sends out rejections for those that don't complete the application, fail CFA or Medical. Beyond that it appears they trickle out as Admissions reviews and slates are determined. Finally, there will a final wave of TWE around April 15.

PS -- this is not an official policy, but more an observation over the years.

Interesting. So does that mean, at this point, no news is not necessarily bad news? Are extremely competitive congressional districts any more likely to hear later in the process?

As of February 21, the Dean of Admissions told us at the CVW that he has only given out about 40 percent of the appointments that will be given out this cycle. I don’t know how much has changed since then, but I can’t imagine all the slates have been resolved at this point. He also said that the admissions board is significantly behind this year when compared to previous years. I would think that a solid number of appointments will be coming the next few weeks.

There’s normally at least one per district. We have 435 members in the House of Representatives which isn’t way to many for the class

I like so many wondered how many from each state are at the academy, after much searching found the following two articles....links will follow....the first is from 2014 and was information the Academy released where California led the way with 442 total midshipmen, Texas was second 331, Maryland had 300, Virginia 286, Florida 280. Did not list all states but gives you an idea. I have a DD from NC and I speculated 200 for NC then I found the second website, if you scroll down and click on the map it will open again on the map you can click on each state and give you the number for just the incoming class.... I think I saw something that made me think the numbers were from last year. North Carolina shows 43 so I was pretty close, If you take each state and multiply by four the numbers are close to the first article for totals.........https://www.wbaltv.com/article/nava...-states-naval-academy/student-life/diversity/......does not appear links are working the other was College Factual search Naval Academy and you will find the map.

I wonder if the delay, assuming this information is correct, had anything to do with the government shutdown. Did that impact the USNA Admissions department? Anyone Know?
