VMI: Financial Aid letter before Appointment

My son received a letter from the Financial Aid office at VMI today stating what he’d qualify for (student loan), even giving the option to reject/accept offer on PostView.

Shouldn’t he have received his appointment first? Perhaps it’s lost in the mail?

DS will call the admissions office on Monday to check on his status. This is definitely not how I imagined finding out that he got in. LOL

Hi. The same thing happened to us, and was also not the way we hoped to hear. It appears VMI puts almost everything on their portal. Except the appointment letter. That comes snail mail. Our mail was delayed two weeks so we didn't really know what was happening. When you get the envelope, it's a really nice impressive certificate--so that made up for the confusion. Also--shortly a bunch of other documents will appear on the portal; SSN verification, dorm deposit, etc. Things that only admitted students would need to complete. All that showed up before the appointment certificate arrived.

It'll all make sense when the certificate appointment letter gets there [emoji6]

Congratulations!!

emptynest & MMShape -- Congrats to you both on the VMI Appointments!

DS got his appointment letter today (could have come yesterday while we were at the open house) but I just checked post view and there is nothing posted yet under financial aid.

DD just received a financial aid offer from VMI, including the options to accept or reject it, but there is nothing in the portal indicating whether or not she has received an appointment.

Is this SOP for VMI? Do we assume she has received a nomination or sit tight to see if it arrives in the mail or pops up on the portal?

Reading in another post that Financial aid correspondence comes electronically. Offers of appointment come via snail mailboxes.

We still haven’t received the official appointment.

DS emailed admissions because he’d like to register for the STP come Monday, but no way to pay a deposit without information. He also needs a copy to upload for acceptance of his AFROTC scholarship. No response ...

Falcon A, his financial aid offer was through snail mail. However, I do not know how long it’s been in the portal before that.

I'd give admissions a call on Thursday if you can ...

They emailed back and it showed up in his junk email! They said his appointment letter was mailed out this week It was also an official congratulations on his appointment, so DS used that to upload for his scholarship.
