The Acronym List

what does the green OP mean or when referring to someone? I do not see an acronym nor have I managed to work that one out...

Original Poster. Common Internet forum usage, not a uniquely military term.

If it’s green, they are logged in at that moment.

If you do @username in the text of your post, you ensure username is notified about it - doesn’t matter if they are OP, a poster in the thread of interest, or not. It flags it for their attention.
Example... @jaglvr

thanks!

OP means original poster.

It is not a military acronym. It is the person who initiated a thread in a forum.

Can we add GHD - Ground Hog Day............watching for changes over and over and over with respect to SA status

Can add:

AMS - Academy of Military Science (previous specialized ANG-only Officer Training School, replaced by TFOT around 2014. Occasionally used interchangeably with OTS or TFOT)

TFOT - Total Force Officer Training (USAF unified line officer training program for ANG, AF Reserves, and USAF-AD, falls under OTS at Maxwell)

COT - Commissioned Officer Training (USAF unified non-line officer training for ANG, AF Reserves, and USAF-AD, falls under OTS at Maxwell)

RCOT - Reserve Commissioned Officer Training (USAF reserve-only, non-line officer training for specifically identified career fields in the AF Reserve Component designated as hard-to-fill. Most non-line officers will go through COT, not RCOT).

AC - Active Component (Title 10 Active Duty force)

RC - Reserve Component (Reserve, National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and other Auxiliaries)

T10 - Title 10 (aka federally-funded, federally-controlled military equipment and personnel)

T32 - Title 32 (aka federally-funded, state-controlled ANG/ARNG equipment and personnel)

SAD - State Active Duty (state-funded, state-controlled ANG/ARNG equipment)

T5 - Title 5 (federal DoD civilians)

RED HORSE - Air Force Expeditionary Civil Engineering Forces

PRIME BEEF - Air Force Primary Civil Engineer Forces

S-Team - Air Force Reserve Professional Engineering Staff Augmentation Team (only in ANG/Reserves)

USACE - US Army Corps of Engineers

Seabee/CB - Navy Construction Battalion (Navy Civil Engineers)

AFCEC - Air Force Civil Engineer Center

AFIT - Air Force Institute of Technology

I've seen these last engineering-specific ones come up in recent threads, as a lot apply to AFROTC technical degree applicants (a bunch of whom are pursuing engineering degrees)

OP typically means “original poster,” i.e. the person who started the thread.

Also, may want to add a note to "CO" that AF doesn't use this term. It is just "Commander" or "Flight/Squadron/Group/Wing Commander"

Can we please add ROO to the acronym list? I have a general idea what it is but don't know what it stands for. Thank you.

It is already on the list:

ROO – Recruiting Operations Officer (AROTC)

HHoG = "Holy House of Gains"

AKA Macdonough ("MacD") Hall gymnasium weight room. ;)

For that matter "MacD" should be on the list.

TA could be Tuition Aid or Tuition Assistance.
