I am a class of 2023 candidate, however I have not received an official nom yet. When will information about the VP nom(s) come out? Also, could someone explain what superintendent noms are and how they work? Thanks!

Memory only...Supes do not have noms. They are a charging source, but not a nominating source. 2 different things.
If memory serves, they never announce the VP noms.
Have you talked to your ALO? Your RD at USAFA?
~ This is the time to do so.

I get this is your dream, but we are quickly approaching April. Plan Bs should be close to being in shape...deposits for school and housing, selecting orientation dates, filling out ROTC paperwork, planning summer vacay with family, etc.

You need to talk to them for guidance since you have no nom as of yet and are waiting to see if the VP is a viable option.

JMPO, and with 2.07 you can get a small cup of coffee.

Be proactive with those that are intimately involved in your application, instead of an anonymous forum.

Pima, thanks for the feedback. As far as plan B goes, I am all set if I do not receive an appointment. Also, I have reached out to my ALO and admission counselor, but they were also unsure of the timing of the VP nom as they are rarely announced publicly. I just wanted to see if anyone else had any information because I was unable to find it elsewhere.

The VP noms would only be given last, or near to last, in my estimation. The could be used to get someone in who didn't win their slate or didn't get another nom. I think they'll wait until close to the end to figure who those folks are from what remains.

@kinnem is correct. The likelihood of a person getting a vice presidential nomination without getting a MOC nomination is very low and unlikely.

I'm in the same boat. No nomination and hoping for a hail mary from VP. My resume is pretty good but I started late in October. They say my district here in Texas is super competitive for nominations so I'm hoping for the best, expecting the worst. Here are my quals:

4.1 GPA w/AP Calc, Physics, History
1st year in college with 4.0 GPA in engineering
Eagle Scout - multiple leadership
4 year varsity football and baseball
State champion
Captain
Multi-year all district plus all state
College Athlete
6 years community service w/leadership
1210 SAT (my biggest weakness, not a good test taker)
Maxed CFA except the run
Candidate with Application Status = Complete but Medically Disqualified (peanut allergy as a kid, hoping they ask for waiver as I eat peanuts and would pass challenge)
No Nominations (I missed Senators as I applied late and didn't get one from rep)

One of the RCs at a SA told me I'm on the list for prep school but they can't make any promises. I hope someone gives me a chance as I applied to multiple SAs. Plan B is to transfer to Texas A&M engineering school as I've been accepted.

DS received LOAs to USAFA, USNA and USMA. Due to new rules with our MOC he only received the nom to USAFA, got one from the Senator to USAFA as well but turned it down since he already had one and the LOA. A month or so ago he received an email from his admissions rep at USMA who asked him if USMA was his first choice. If it was, with his LOA, she indicated that she could get him the VP nom. He had already accepted USAFA at this point so he told her to use it for someone else.
My point to this story is I think they use the VP noms for those kids they really want (LOAs possibly) who for some reason did not get a nom.

Am I reading the bold correctly? USAFA has yet to ask for a waiver?

Not trying to be Debbie Downer, but typically if USAFA thinks you are competitive for an appointment by this time they would request a waiver. It would say in your DoDMERB portal waiver requested for DD.XYZ on this date.

You're right the lack of waiver process is bad sign. I'm resigned to prep school as best shot but hoping for hail mary. I wished they would tell you what you need to work on. It seems I've nearly aced all my qualifications except the ACT/SAT but admissions said that I'm not out of range. Also it seems I'd have a better chance in a different district for a nomination. The MOC office told me they had hundreds of applications and that if you're not in the hunt by end of summer it's not good. My current college is in a different district and I'm considering changing residency to help out. I called the MOC office where my grandparents live in Arkansas and they said I'd be a top guy there for nom but I'd have to prove residency and move. When I visited USNA a guy was with me from Minnesota. He had nominations to two schools. When we talked qualifications he had less than me and same ACT/SAT. I know you shouldn't compare but it's weird how where you live can close the door or open it more. I will stay where I am at and try harder especially on the SAT since I've not taken it in 2 years. Should be better after taking a year of college engineering.

Will you be living on campus, and in a dorm? If so, I highly doubt you will be able to change your residency. Dorms are not considered a legal residence in this situation. If you are going to live off campus, but still considered a dependent on your parents tax returns, and are registered to vote in their district, than again, you will most likely not be able to claim residency in that new district. Residency is more than just saying I live in a dorm from Aug-May.

I would suggest that if you get the TWE, you enroll in ROTC too. Just like the VP and MoC noms, ROTC also can give noms.

Thank you. I live in an apartment now with a roomate. Going to Texas A&M engineering school next year and looking at joining the Corp. Will also be reapplying if this year doesn't work out.

If you knew the SAT was the weakest part of you application, why have you waited two years to retake it? You also mentioned you missed an MOC’s deadline for a nomination?
