USAFA Class of 2023 Appointment Thread

From the post above, any idea what the yield rate was? For example, if you want 1,200 new cadets, how many offers do you have to give to get that many acceptances. In my experience with college admissions, the colleges are always concerned about the yields.

Although, does it matter for a SA, they can keep granting appointments until they get the number they want. Hmmm, I need to think about it.

Hi--In one of these posts (I just cruised through a lot of them again but couldn't find it) there is a photo someone posted as an example of a TWE from last year. But the photo had an article as the second upload and on that article for Class of 2023 I believe I recall it said USAFA was planning on about 1,400 offers to get to a class size of 1,150. That's 82%, so right about in the expected yield rate stated above.

If someone can find that post and photo, the article was interesting.

Does anyone know if Congressman Mac Thornberry(TX. District 13) has been notified of appointments yet?

Also I am new on here as if last night and curious as to what DS and DD means. Sorry if that question has been asked before.

DS = Dear Son, DD= Dear Daughter. At the top of the page there is an acronym list that you will find very helpful. I was using this list every visit when I was new. Have a great day!
We have not heard anything yet, did you get your nomination?
Yes received nomination, just no notification on appointment or TWE
That’s great! Same here, I just wonder when he will release that information
Not soon enough! :)
Waiting is a nice problem to have. For many, there was or is nothing to wait for. DQ'd or TWE already.
I'm so sorry. I've read some posts where it was not the end of their story and appointments went out to those who thought were declined. All in all I have to Believe that God is in control and if it's his will and purpose, It will be done. Easier said than done.

Is there a difference in "potential pilot qualified"? My DS has medical status "potential pilot qualified". Is there different medical status for candidates? If there is, is any status better than another?

I read somewhere that they do want about 50% appointees to be pilot qualified (potential pilots), so it must make a difference. My DS on her Med Status just says 'qualified'

It will say potentially pilot qualified on the DoDMERB website, but just qualified on the admissions portal.

(I tried to edit above to make Accepted bold, but the forum thinks I am trying to spam you all- sorry.)

PEPPYPEA!!! Congratulations!! You did it! I've been watching this forum for your post!
Again, congratulations! I'll bet you had the best night's sleep in a looong time last night!
If all goes well, my DS and yours will be classmates. 2023 strong!

Yeah, I slept amazing! I keep yipping and yelping all over the place! Thanks for the love, Luv!

Peppypea,

I'm very happy for you and your DS as I followed you last year. If I recall, your DS was homeschooled which piqued my interest as my grandson was also homeschooled. Again, a hearty congrats for having pushed through a second go-round, this time successfully!

No homeschool- I am simply not smart enough to help my kids like that, lol! HOWEVER, my DS went to a VERY SMALL incredibly RURAL school that didn't have some of the educational opportunities of a larger school- barely any AP classes, had to do foreign language online, etc. We had some hurdles, but, obviously, he overcame! Not to mention his time at MMI was phenomenal. We are so grateful.
