How can someone be committed this early?

I’m guessing that the ‘announcements’ referred to are probably football. I don’t know if ‘bragging’ is the right way to process it. I think it’s the nature of the beast. It’s the world we live in. Navy football is very active on Twitter. They just had their first prospect day this weekend for the class of 2020. Programs need to generate interest. And social media (twitter especially for this purpose) is how it is done now a days. Sports programs seem to be on twitter and to a lesser degree, Instagram.

Likewise, athletes who are in the recruiting process (vying for a their scholarship offers) want to generate interest in them. Recruiters watch twitter for performances. Tweets. Hudle highlights. High school programs also use social media to promote their programs and players looking for recruitment. Gone are the days of mailing in a dvd of highlights.

I have a twitter account BC that’s how our HS track coach communicated. It really became necessary for both information and meet updates. So I follow (mostly) sports. Including navy football. My DS’s don’t don’t do twitter. Currently lots of tweeting about “offers,” which have been retweeted by Recruiting Coordinator Coach David Mahoney. They need to do this to be on the radar as well.

So I get the announcing. Part of it , imo, is letting people know (bragging? Maybe). But also part of it is getting your offers out there to ‘up your value’ so to speak. To get all the offers so you can decide. And with football, and their early signing period, it’s starts now junior year. I have a friends who’s son just committed to Miami of Ohio as a junior. College programs want to generate
Buzz. We all know, however, that the 3q’s have to be met to secure an appointment.

My comments related to what someone who is only a junior in h.s. is apparently posting on social media as mentioned by the OP. I wasn't talking about anything posted by USNA. People not familiar with the nuances of applying to an SA may have zero knowledge of how the application process actually works.
