Waiters ....this thread is for you

The wait is nerve racking. My DD checks everyday twice a day while I search this forum for an answer that isn't there. Im pretty impressed by her throughout this process. She has NROTC, AFROTC and an appointment to USAFA but hasn't made a commitment until she receives final word from USNA. I look forward to a long exhale and the knowledge of where she will be heading after her June graduation.
Best of luck all! Reading this forum helps keep our sanity.
Has your DD posted her appointment on the USAFA forum?

Plan B is to go on CORTRAMID and get ready to start the process over again (both school and applying to USNA).

Its either LSU and stay at home or join the older brother at La Tech. (Denied NROTC scholarship but Battalion Commander wants to talk this week about options.) Either way DS wants to reapply to all of the above if no appointment.

My DD is still waiting to hear from Navy. She would be the fourth sibling to attend if she is accepted. This is by far the longest wait out of the four of them. All three heard back by January. DD has been accepted to 8 other schools and had narrowed it down to two for plan B. Virginia Tech and University of Kentucky. She’s also received a type 7 AFROTC. As much as she loves VT they have offered very little merit money. Kentucky has offered a full ride. Needless to say I think Kentucky will be her plan B!! [emoji170][emoji631]
What years are your other 3? I have a 2014, 2016, 2019, and a current NAPster, so both our #4s could end up together!

2012,15,18 lol but she is still waiting. If she goes plan B she will do AFROTC. She didn’t get in to NROTC. Fingers crossed!! Go Navy!!

NROTC scholarship to Embry Riddle Daytona direct into Aerospace Engineering.

NROTC scholarship to Embry Riddle Daytona direct into Aerospace Engineering.
My DS also received the 4-year NROTC scholarship & acceptance to Embry Riddle - Daytona!! Plan B is all set!! Good luck to you!

Congrats! Both of my brothers go to ERAU. One is on Navy scholarship and other is getting masters degree in robotic engineering. It is an excellent school for engineering (undoubtedly one of the best for Aerospace) and their NROTC program is outstanding. PM me if you want more information and I can get you in contact with one of my brothers if either of you would like!

My DS is also planning to attend ERAU with NROTC scholarship. We went to the accepted students presentation here in Houston and he (and I!!) felt very positive about it after. Even though we’re still waiting on USNA, he is excited and looking forward to starting this path at ERAU.

My DS was accepted, but with all the scholarships he has and money we have saved, it's still a huge stretch. Still hoping for an appointment, if not, a state university is his path. The waiting is absolute torture for this mom.

Still CPR anyone?
will,

There is a very robust group of CPRs hanging around the thread, and very few USNA TWEs have been reported. You can assume there are definitely some appointments left to go out, but it also appears that USNA is accumulating a big pile of TWEs to send out in a ‘Big Bang.’ event. Apparentely that happened on Mar 22 last year, and it will happen a little bit later this year. I guess it changes from year to year. No fun for anyone.

Plan B, Plan B, Plan B

All of the young men and women who have applied to USNA/any of the academies have worked extremely hard and I personally am so impressed by all of you. Countless others did not make it this far - all of you should be very proud of what you have accomplished, regardless of the outcome.

We are not a military family. DD deciding that she wanted to apply to USNA took us completely by surprise. It's been 9 months of me researching and learning all of what a commitment to the Navy entails. As I've done that, I have become even more impressed by all of you who are willing to make that commitment and sacrifice for your country. I've come a long way in my understanding and at the risk of repeating myself, every one of you has already accomplished a great deal.

That being said, the waiting at this point is definitely painful, I know it is in my house. Everyone would just like to know....if it's TWE so be it but it would be nice to be able to move on and I know all of you feel the same way.

We are almost there, the finish line is in sight. Let's hang in there together...this is just one step in what I'm sure will be an incredible life journey for all of you, whether the next step starts at USNA or not.

I'll step down from my soap box now :) Happy Wednesday.

My DS is also planning to attend ERAU with NROTC scholarship. We went to the accepted students presentation here in Houston and he (and I!!) felt very positive about it after. Even though we’re still waiting on USNA, he is excited and looking forward to starting this path at ERAU.
I highly suggest reaching out to their office of financial aid. My oldest brother (not on navy scholarship) was in the same situation and their office is really good about finding ways to make ends meet. ie: after still coming up short on tuition before he went, he reached out to them and they made him write a small essay on why he wants to go and that went to a review board where they gave him additional scholarship money.

Thanks for the advice! Any and all money helps for sure! He has a 4 year NROTC scholarship and they gave him enough merit $$ to cover room and board. I think this is a lot of the reason that he is not sweating not having heard from USNA and is exciting about attending ERAU in the (likely?) event that the TWE shows up. One thing that the man who did the presentation at the accepted students event said is to check The Big Book of Scholarships for scholarship money. He had one student receive over $100,000 in scholarships over the last four years because he just keeps applying for different ones.

DS is still waiting on 6 decisions that don’t notify until March 30 or even April 5. But if the ones he is already admitted to he has ranked Michigan and GaTech engineering as his top choices. Waiting on stanford MIT and Cornell. And USNA. All great choices and will do NROTC

GaTech is an amazing school! Best of luck with USNA, but Tech would be a spectacular plan B. I know lots of kids with amazing scores and resumes that were told no by Tech.

So far I've got the University of Utah, University of Portland, Regis University in Denver, Benedictine College in Kansas, and Mary Baldwin University but I'm still waiting for USNA. Plan B is Mary Baldwin as part of the Virginia Women's Leadership Institution.

Yikes - all the TWEs today... =(

There are so many threads about parents weekend and I-day and cadet/mids packets and paperwork, whole sections for academy parents, that I want to click on so bad but have resisted! I will not look unless/until there is something that applies to my kid, and that's not the case yet.

...... waiting....... Registered DS for New Student Conference at plan B school. Aggieland, we are ready to join the ranks if Annapolis or Colorado Springs are not meant to be.

Oops meant to reply to another post but congratulations to your DD on Navy Scholarship!
