Issues with getting medically qualified

I've been having issues communicating with DoDMERB and DoDMETS. I started my medical process in October and I remember reading somewhere that the entire process will take 4 months IF you get a waiver. It has been over 4 months and It still isn't completed. I finished my initial medical test in October. In early December I received a administrative remedial. I sent it in and DoDMERB got back to me at the end of December stating that I needed a medical remedial. I was told to schedule my medical remedial through DoDMETS. I called DoDMETS almost every day for 2 weeks and never got an answer I also emailed them several times. Two weeks later someone finally emailed back and said they hadn't received a request for a remedial. I contacted DoDMERB and they resent the remedial 2 weeks later (Now it is the end of January). I then went onto the portal to schedule my remedial and was unable to schedule a provider. I called and emailed DoDMETS and a week later they emailed back and said that there were no providers in my area, they said it will take a MAXIMUM of 30 days. Those 30 days ended on March 3rd and I emailed them on March 3rd asking if they have found a provider to conduct my remedial. I still haven't heard an answer. Has anyone else had this frustrating experience? Also any advice on what to do would be appreciated. The only thing keeping me from losing my mind is that I'm a principal nominee so from what I understand I just have to get qualified and then I'll be accepted.

It’s really frustrating, my DS also had to go through a lot of what you wrote and we are now waiting on a waiver( if AF thinks he is a competitive candidate) and we have not heard anything from SA so far.

What does principal nominee mean? My son has both congressional and Senator nomination, but medically disqualified

If you receive a principal nomination it means that as long as you are qualified you receive and appointment to USAFA. I hope that your son gets the waiver!

Hoping Wishing you also a great luck! Almost there, someone mentioned Mar 11 a bunch of appointments going to be announced. But I don’t know if I can hear something as my DS is not qualified yet.

Soooo...USAFA admissions says they can't issue me an appointment until I have a qualifying medical status..
and DODMERB says they cannot send my medical over until I have an offer and acceptance from USAFA ...??

Anyone else have this issue? And know how to resolve it?
On the admissions side my medical is still listed as "remedial requested" and on the DODMERB side it's listed as "in process" but stamped "potential pilot qualified" under the dodmil website....

So frustrating..

On my portal it says "qualified" under medical status but people have been throwing around the term ' pilot ' qualified, is there a difference and would it show up on the portal?

There are three classes of DoDMERB qualification at this time: “Commission” Qualified, “Potential Pilot” Qualified, and “Potential Navigator” Qualified. As a reference to those that are interested in an Air Force aviation career, a table has been created so vision, height, and hearing values can be compared to see if you fall into the potential pilot or navigator category per the USAFA Admissions site.

The key word here is "potential" - flying class examinations will be performed during the third academic year at the United States Air Force Academy and will encompass more in-depth testing than was used during the DoDMERB physical exam to determine if cadets are pilot qualified.

It will say on the dodmerb site "potentialy pilot qualified"see the attached screenshot.

@rutl12 I would contact Larry Mullen at DoDMERB immediately. He is the Deputy Director and is known for going to bat for candidates. Look for past posts; he used to be active on the forums. Calls himself the DoDMERB Bureaucrat Buster and has helped many people.

Would it be possible for someone to post a screenshot of the reference table which shows vision, height, and hearing values required for the potential pilot or navigator category? I have searched the USAFA website and beyond and can't seem to find it. TIA

@knownothing You might try starting your own thread in order for more people to see your question.
Thank you. I appreciate your suggestion, but since the table was mentioned in a recent prior post (by @FMHS-79) I thought it would be more relevant for this thread. Also, I'm not sure of what the title of the table is exactly. Anybody?

Although this document is a couple years old (and not the official flying standards), I'm hoping it provides the information you were looking for - http://www.smartcatalogiq.com/en/Ca...ix/Potential-Pilot-and-Combat-Systems-Officer.

If dodmerb says “commission qualified” does this mean that things are not looking good for becoming a pilot? My eyes are basically fine and hearing is perfect. Just wondering if things could change.

im medcially dqd on my usafa portal (for past 2 months). on my dodmerb, im "Pending Waiver Submission/Review", meaning usafa has not requested a waiver. im lowkey surprised i didnt get the TWE (:)

My son is in the same boat. How do you know if the USAFA has requested a waiver? His DQ is for asthma after 13. I recently took him to Pulmonologist and they wrote a letter saying he was fine and we submitted it even though nothing was asked of him. Hoping the absence of the TWE is a good sign
