Revoke my security clearance, too, Mr. President: Admiral McRaven

Brennan voted for the Communist Party candidate for President (of the United States of America!) in 1976. Maybe he should have never been given a clearance in the first place. Leopards, spots, something like that. Or maybe Spenser Rapone will be DNI someday.
Yes. And voting Communist in 76 was saying much more than it would be now! Middle of the Cold War.

Maybe Admiral McRaven can pen a open letter Brennan asking him to apologize to the President of the United States.
McRaven is an embarrassment to himself, his family, the navy, the country, along with Comey, Clapper and his good friend John Brennan.

What exactly do you think he was saying in 1976? As a newly enfranchised 21 year old, Brennan exercised his right to vote in the first post-Watergate election for the Communist Party candidate, who was legally on the ballot, as did 56,000 other Americans (the vast majority of whom had to know Gus Hall had zero chance of winning). He claimed his vote was a way of expressing protest. When he applied to the CIA a few years later, he acknowledged his vote. If you have information that he was a member of the Communist Party but did not disclose it, please let us know.

Mod note:
While we allow more leeway on the Off-Topic forum, we will not allow disparaging political remarks about political figures.
It is okay to debate. It is okay to disagree. It is NOT okay to insult or engage in denigrating comments toward political figures or other members of the SAF community.

Thank you AROTC-dad....you are right on the money. When John Brennan said the President of the United States committed acts of "treason", it was not ok. Too bad our moderators aren't working for MSNBC,ABC, CNN...etc.

@LurkingQuietly. With all due respect, please don't pretend to know my politics.

Suffice it to say that I support all our leaders who serve this country and protect The Constitution including POTUS.

My job here it protect this forum from degrading ANY members of our leadership and to enforce the policies/rules of this forum. This includes your posts as well as others.

This forum has helped countless numbers of candidates to serve, and THAT is its primary mission. We offer this off-topic forum as a courtesy to build community and fellowship. This friction does not promote our goals.

I simply stated he voted communist party.

Whats the three things we arent supposed to talk about in polite company. Money, politics and religion. That has gone by the wayside

I thought it was s&x, politics, and religion.

It doesn't take me long to talk about money because I don't have much of it.

I dont think sex was ever a topic of conversation so it wasnt necessasry to exclude it. I am not saying that is reality, but it was supposed to be that way

Yes, there are a lot of impressionable young adults that might see an editorial by a 4 star admiral, and believe everything he saying is based in fact. When the truth is, sometimes they're just bad political actors. I think that's an important lesson.

Well....looks like this is playing out, and Brennan own notes betray him. Admiral McRaven has "made his bed", he can "lie" in it.

As Sammy Kershaw once sang,

"Hey ole buddy, how you been
Not much has changed here on my end
No I don't think she's comin' back
We better not get into that
Let's talk about baseball
Talk a little small talk
There's gotta be a good joke
That you've heard
Let's talk about NASCARs
Old Hollywood movie stars
Let's talk about anything
Anything in this world
But politics, religion, and her
Politics can start a fight
Religion's hard to know who's right
And one more topic I won't touch
That one's her -- it hurts too much"

Usually good advice. I did read McRaven's ''make your bed", and it was a good read. Personally, I don't agree with his letter, but I don't have to. That's the cool part. I am not a Brennan fan, but I don't have to be one, that's the amazing thing about America!

"Dear Mr. President:

Former CIA director John Brennan, whose security clearance you revoked on Wednesday, is one of the finest public servants I have ever known. Few Americans have done more to protect this country than John. He is a man of unparalleled integrity, whose honesty and character have never been in question, except by those who don’t know him.

Therefore, I would consider it an honor if you would revoke my security clearance as well, so I can add my name to the list of men and women who have spoken up against your presidency."

LOL...this letter did not age well. Perhaps the good Admiral has changed his opinion about John Brennan ("one of the finest public servants I have ever known.")? Probably not though...

Sad

We spend our entire career staying out of politics. Served for a few Commanders in Chief that I did not vote for nor agree with. Bottom line is that you are not serving for the President... you serve to support and defend the Constitution, U.S. citizens and the men and women in uniform on your left and right.

Too often retirees get involved with politics and it just doesn’t look good. I worked closely with VADM Harward who is very close with ADM McRaven. I am honored to have served with them and respect their respective resumes. VADM Harward passed on the National Security Advisor position under President Trump, but he did not disparage the office, ADM McRaven went to work at the University of Texas and started to give his opinion on politics. He’s a great man, but I don’t agree with his approach...

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American people."

- Theodore Roosevelt
