BFE expectations?

DS quickly accepted offer of appointment & has been working though paperwork. His ALO mentioned bringing his BFE for a presentation at his high school. Just curious if anyone could shed some light on reasonable expectations. Thanks
 
We didn't get a BFE. *sniffle DS got one from MMA, but it would be fun to have one for commemorative purposes.
 
I think that the BFE is more metaphorical these days as the information is online via the portal, and if memory serves once you get the portal notification there's loads of paperwork to complete, hence the BF part of BFE. Each appointee use to, and probably still does, receive a keepsake blue folder with gold embossed writing with their appointment certificate inside. We live in the middle of nowhere USA and DD was only appointee for miles so no ALO or other representative hand delivery it just arrived in the mail. However, my guess in your case, that there will be an appointment assembly of some type, where it will be hand delivered which is a wonderful picture taking moment and the continuation of the journey. Hold on....

I'm darn happy, but I am trying to be as hands-off as possible so as not to be a total helicopter or tiger mom. My fledgling Falcon is out of the nest- time for him to fly. *sniffles
 
Our DS's ALO presented him his appointment certificate (in the blue keepsake folder) at his high school's senior awards ceremony. Check with your high school's counselor's office to see if they do any kind of ceremony. Our DS had received his appointment weeks before the ceremony but his ALO was kind enough to do the presentation instead of just mailing it to him. I think most ALOs are very willing to help you commemorate the occasion in this matter, if their work schedule allows them the time to attend.

This, and to see what date they plan on doing any kind of ceremony. Some ALO's can have multiple kids with an appointment. If you have multiple HSs in your district than it becomes 1st come 1st serve for the ALO if the schools are having it on the same night. That happens sometimes.

Thanks! We are in the suburbs of a large Texas City. Many, many competitive High Schools in our congressional district. Our son’s ALO has been terrific from the very beginning of this process & he told our son about it. My wife & I are trying are best to stay out of the way, without missing the proud parent moments
