I'm asking this to those who've been on this forum a long time or someone who's spent an exorbitant amount of time looking back through the thread and have found a trend. And I'm just asking for reference for those of us who are (or have a DD/DS) still with Candidate status and feeling like we are dying with the waiting.

What did USAFA tend to do in previous years, were there mass emails sent April 15 (which would have been a Sunday last year) that constituted the TWE? Looking at the appointment thread from last year and I see a good number of appointments reported for Saturday April 7th and then only two for Saturday April 14th. I did go back far enough to see if there were any threads around April 15th last year reporting a bunch of TWEs and I did not find anything like that. April 15th is a Monday this year. Will we FOR SURE hear something by that date? Has anyone heard of someone who did not hear something by April 15th?

Our recruit was TWE'd on May 10th last year. Then told he was on a five person wait list by his recruiting coach on May 15th and said that the TWE was in error, and then informed on June 8th that the wait list option had run out and that the TWE notice of May 10th was now official. So when people say hop on, it's a roller coaster ride, it truly is!

Last year there was a wave of TWE's that went out on 4/12 but not everyone got a TWE at that time. Some had to wait longer.

Yes , my DS got his TWE in the big wave on April 12th. The prior year looking at the thread was April 17th. So somewhere in this range the big wave of Denials will most likely come out in one day ! Hang on tight the end is almost near for most ....then life can go on lol !

Would it be safe to assume that this upcoming wave of will consist mostly of TWE's? Or will there be an even mix of appointments and TWE'S? Does anyone have an idea?

First time going through this with my kid, so take it with a huge grain of salt, but my understanding is there are MOC slates where an appointment has probably been offered and not accepted yet. Know of one USMA appointee who received an email from FFR asking him to turn it down now if he's going to turn it down, so it can be offered to someone else. Not sure if similar emails are going out to USAFA appointees, but they do have until May 1. Makes it difficult if a candidate is holding onto an appointment to their #2 and waiting for their #1. Once May 1 comes, and hands have been forced to accept or decline, I'm sure more appointments and TWEs will go out because more MOC slates will have been determined.

Currently (4/4/2019 7:55 pm), there's ~25 "undecided" on each USAFA/USMA/USNA self-reports. If the self-report list represents 10-15% of the total, there's still a good number of appointments out there that haven't been accepted or declined yet.

It will be interesting to see how that ~25 undecided bounce between these academies. Some of them have a deadline of 15 April.

Really? Which ones have 15 April?
Don’t know which group they are but many have that deadline.
OK, didn't realize that. I thought SAs all followed the May 1 "National College Decision Day." I do know that AROTC scholarship decisions have earlier dates.
Edit1: Just checked, our USAFA calendar has May 1 as "Acceptance Deadline (Class of 2023)" and DS's USMA appointment had a deadline of 1 May also. So, there's a couple weeks between April 15 and May 1 where there could be some uncertainty!
Edit2: USNA: Candidates will be notified of their status by April 15th. All appointees are required to notify the Admissions Office of their intention to accept or decline their offer of appointment by May 1st.

Your information seems to be superior to mine, which is based on information posted on this forum.

Only reason May 1 stuck in my head as the forum discusses March-April 15 notifications is that I keep picturing candidates holding on to an appointment or two while waiting for their #1 to hopefully come in before they need to make a May 1 decision. I know of at least one from our state who has 2 appointments, but she's waiting for her #1. Also know of a couple more who have/had multiple appointments and hadn't declined any yet (they may have by now.) Anyway, my whole point was that some MOC slates may still be undecided until/after May 1.

Interesting.
