My son and I are traveling to West Point to watch this competition. Right now the plan is to show up at West Point and ask some questions on how to do this (not much of a plan...). If anyone has some information on how this all works for spectators, I would appreciate it greatly.

I believe there is a informational meeting that you can go to for details on where to watch and which events are available to spectators.
I will try and post a link.

My wife and I went last year as our son was his company squad leader. It was, by far, our favorite visit to WP during his first theee years. The competition is really impressive and we loved watching the other military academies and the ROTC schools. It is an extremely tough endurance test and everyone that participates should be commended. The USAFA team won the competition last year and they were absolutely machine-like. Quite a few of their seniors ended up going special ops.

This was just posted:
Parents/spectators visiting West Point - The U.S. Military Academy to watch and support the Sandhurst Military Skills Competition, please visit the link below and review the information. ALL spectators visiting on Friday (who do not have a Visitor ID) will be required to stop at the Visitor Control Center to receive Visitor ID (6 a.m.-6 p.m.). Once on post, all spectators are required to stop at Cullum Hall for further instructions on how best to view and support the competition. #Sandhurst http://s3.amazonaws.com/usma-media/inline-images/Parents/pdf/sandhurstvisitorinfo2019.pdf

I’ve read all of the above and will reach out to West Point for the 2020 version of this, but...for those who went last year...any tips??? I’ll take anything! Booking flights now! Best hotel or AIRBNB/VRBO, best viewing, did you go to the awards dinner? Etc....THANKS!! Go Army! Go Embry Riddle Eagle Battalion!!!

Hello! Seeking advice from someone who has been to this before...I am going this year. I’m curious about where you stayed, parking if not staying super close by (ie, not walking distance, like the Thayer Hotel)...etc! I would appreciate any tips! Thank you!
