The Waiting Club

I've been in the waiting club for awhile. USAFA started the waiver process for me February 1st and I just received a waiver last Friday. So now it's down to the final days.
What do you mean started the waiver process in Feb? Is it not a one step where they just issue a waiver?

So in February they told me they were requesting a waiver. They needed additional medical info and they had to review that info. Now, a few days ago, I got the letter on my portal saying my waiver was granted.
My DS’s ALO just said they will raise a waiver if they want him and until now they never raised anything. My son called him agin last week and he was like as if he had no clue that he said that before and just read his status back to him . It’s really hard as we are almost hitting mid April
DS was notified in December that a waiver was being requested. The USAFA Waiver Authority requested additional information in January. No additional questions thereafter. Still no word on a waiver.

Posted elsewhere, and mention here again: DS denied first week of April, had Falcon offer mid May... grad ‘18.. ENJJPT now... keep the faith and keep working on plan B,C,D... if you reapply..it is very helpful if you put your time to good use.. parallel courses and excellent grades and good use of time management and a busy schedule... cause if you get accepted that’s gonna be what you will have to do on the Hill.

The portal has been synchronizing all morning. Maybe a wave of coming. (I suspect it might be the TWE's).

Mine never has had the 'synchronizing' page shown. I'm not sure if that means anything. I remember it happening with my application for the summer seminar, but I have checked during the morning hours and never seen it for my portal for class of 2023.

My DS swears he is o KU checking his portal on Wednesday unless he gets an email to notify him of change. So frustrating for this nervous mom

Long time lurker.....I finally registered and am joining the waiting club on behalf of DS. We are staying positive, remaining hopeful and practicing a lot of patience. DS is all qualified, etc. has both a senatorial and congressional nomination to USAFA.

I need some advice (and apologize if this is not keeping in track of the thread): While we are waiting, we are also moving forward with plan B school AND a school organized trip out of the country (japan) schedule for June 13-27th. I realize that IF an appointment is offered DS will need to report back for BT which starts June 27th. I have talked with the student travel agency dealing with this and have been told that they can and would adjust trip for DS to come home earlier (thinking 6/23 or 6/24). Are we nuts? I really have no idea what exact date DS would need to show up IF appointment offered - night before? DS has worked/saved since 14 years old to go on this school sponsored trip - in the end we know that it might just have to be cancelled and forfeit the $$. Just putting it out there to see if others have been in similar situations. BTW, we have a neighbor who several years ago got several appointments; got USAFA in late April - so maybe this is just their timeline...

I'd book the trip! We have made plans for the summer and are acting like an appointment isn't going to happen. It will be an awesome problem if an appointment does roll in and summer plans have to be adjusted. And for your son and the trip, if an adjustment can be made to just cut it a bit short to get back then he's going to go whether he receives an appointment or not. If he receives an appointment then the decision on when exactly he should fly back and arrive for I-day can be decided at that time. I would guess USAFA could offer some guidance on the subject. You aren't nuts. BOOK THE TRIP.

In-Processing Day is Thursday, June 27. Appointees should plan to arrive in Colorado Springs the day before.

It sounds like a wonderful opportunity to see Japan, and I truly understand the dilemma! Only your DS can decide what's right for him, so this is just one family's opinion. If it were my son and he was fortunate to receive an appointment, he would likely skip the trip altogether. Our USAFA friends have painted a picture of BCT for us, and it's one of the most intense 6 weeks he'll experience. An experience to which he would want to bring his A-game. I think it took our teens at least 1 1/2 weeks to fully recover from jet lag after returning from Japan. (It took me longer.) I can't imagine starting BCT not feeling your best. But maybe jet lag isn't a problem for him? Hoping he gets an appointment... it would be a great "problem" to have!

I had the same thought as @rosepetals. I would worry about jet lag and being too tired for BCT. We have put summer plans and plan B on hold for now. We decided if by end of April we still do not know, we will move forward with plan B. In meantime, DS is working out now preparing for BCT just in case.

I don't know exactly what schools falcon offers are to however they are scholarship offers to civilian-ish prep schools. Because it is money coming from USAFA you can imagine how good your chances are of getting in to USAFA the year after you receive a falcon scholarship. Also there are several threads on what Falcon scholarships are.

Still waiting for USAFA and USNA and it is killing me. My medical status is "Potential Pilot Qualified", does this give me a leg up or is it the same as everyone?
