I know that I will need an Ipad for West Point, but can I bring my own or do I have to have West Point buy it for me? And if I can bring my own, what type should it be? Thanks!

Several threads about this. Please use the search function above. You’ll find what you need to know.

DS was recently asked WP about the iPad. They said it is not needed for any classes. Only a laptop would be issued. Many cadets have them but more for entertainment ( Netflix). I believe you need to let their IT at it to put it on the network to get WiFi.

DD did not order it in her tech package originally. Three months into the academic year she asked us to purchase one. She uses it extensively for class notes uploaded into an app called notables. Very easy to organize notes, study for WPR and TEE's. Really depends on what works best for student and if they will utilize it. Tech package will indicate what specs are needed to connect to the West Point network.

I am currently a Yuck.

I use my Ipad a lot (almost more than my computer).
-Snapping pictures of notes
-Collecting lab data
-Checking email
-As a digital textbook
-lighter than a laptop and better battery life

I do recommend cell service on the Ipad, as internet outages can be quite annoying.

If it is in your tech package I would order it, if it is not, I would wait to see if you really need it.

The IPad was not offered as part of the tech package last year. But they gave detailed information on which were acceptable models and they have to go through IT to get the WiFi software installed. My cadet uses hers daily, I would recommend getting one if you can, but don’t bring until ADay.
