Our Congresswoman was not re-elected, so how should my DS expect to hear about an Appointment? Portal only?

Hearing from others I learned that most new MOC's do not give a call. However today I was pleasantly surprised when my new MOC gave me the good new. Hold in there, you will know soon!

UPDATE: My ALO forwarded me a message that she got from the ALO director from my state saying that this weekend MOST first-round candidates will receive appointment by this weekend. Sometime after this weekend the second-round candidates will be notified. He did not specify how long the second-round appointments would take, nor if they will come out in a mass batch or trickle in. Also, my ALO director confirmed that this year the application process was pushed into April "for some reason", and that normally first-round offers are completed in March.

If you do not hear back yet, keep the faith! Just because you do not hear back this weekend does not mean you are not in.

There was, but according to my ALO director that wasn’t all. March 13 they sent out a bit more than 400 appointment offers. But after that wave, they delayed sending out most offers until April. This, according to my ALO director, are the rest of the offers of appointment for the first-review over all applications. The second-review offers have yet to go out.

Our Congressman was not re-elected either. However he ensured there was a smooth transition with regard to all the service academy nominations and paperwork. It worked because the new MOC for our district was the one who called my son at the beginning of the week.

We haven't heard anything yet either.... But finally have a plan B in place - yeah!!! He has been accepted to a college in their aeronautics program (BS degree). He can complete degree (2.5 yrs we figure - 2 yrs pushing it) so if not appointed to USAFA and is still moving towards his goal. He will transfer from his current community college where he has been going for two years. He still wants the academy and will gladly go all four years but I am relieved that he finally has a plan B and that he is happy in moving towards his future goal of being an officer/pilot in the US Air Force. ROTC if not USAFA? Not sure how any of it works as my hubby and I are not military and this is all new to us. Grateful there are more than just one road to get there. God is good and it will all work out. I'm still hoping for USAFA appointment, he is just 17..... so young and ready to climb another mountain.

Update: My DS completed his medical exam today. However, they said it could take up to 2 weeks to process. That's cutting it real close! I looked back at last year's thread for class of 2022. I saw appointments still being made up to 5/13 (my birthday), which was encouraging. Also, someone received TWE 4/17. Then 2 weeks later offered appointment after paying deposit and accepting ROTC scholarship. So I guess it's not over til it's over!

FYI, If your child is being recruited in sports, their application is coded "Blue Chip", and chances increased. I got this term from the AF track coach. We had an unofficial visit last summer. We haven't heard from the coach in several months. So I'm not sure if DS is "blue chipped" or not. He has not responded to my recent emails. To be fair, they've had an incredibly busy and productive season.

DS currently has an appointment with VMI along with ROTC and athletic aid. However, he is skeptical about living in barracks for 4 years. AF provides a more traditional style dorm, and he was impressed overall with the campus.
Unfortunately, I have no control over this process nor am I sure if he'll even accept. I've done the best I can guiding him through all of his options and explaining the value of SA's, etc.

If my DS received a LOA earlier this week pending medical waiver approval, how likely is it that the medical waiver will be denied? He has a congressional nom. We are cautiously thrilled and have started moving forward with all the paperwork requested (He was able to accept the appointment). Anyone have thoughts or experience?

Update: My DS completed his medical exam today. However, they said it could take up to 2 weeks to process. That's cutting it real close! I looked back at last year's thread for class of 2022. I saw appointments still being made up to 5/13 (my birthday), which was encouraging. Also, someone received TWE 4/17. Then 2 weeks later offered appointment after paying deposit and accepting ROTC scholarship. So I guess it's not over til it's over!

FYI, If your child is being recruited in sports, their application is coded "Blue Chip", and chances increased. I got this term from the AF track coach. We had an unofficial visit last summer. We haven't heard from the coach in several months. So I'm not sure if DS is "blue chipped" or not. He has not responded to my recent emails. To be fair, they've had an incredibly busy and productive season.

DS currently has an appointment with VMI along with ROTC and athletic aid. However, he is skeptical about living in barracks for 4 years. AF provides a more traditional style dorm, and he was impressed overall with the campus.
Unfortunately, I have no control over this process nor am I sure if he'll even accept. I've done the best I can guiding him through all of his options and explaining the value of SA's, etc.

VMI is a great school.
