Waiters ....this thread is for you

Still waiting. Thinking I have to be one of an extremely small group who still is CPR. I just need some insight on what this means. I have been thinking it is good that I haven't heard yet, but if there are any spots left then it is a crazy small number. Getting worried.
My DS is still CPR, I hope we know by Monday
Some people say it’s a good thing and some say not. Do you think there are any appointments left or maybe for NAPS? Good luck
I read before that someone's congressman told them they are in the running for NAPS and will here by the end of next week. I have no clue if there are still appointments. We haven't been denied yet so I'm thinking they have to be considering us for something.
And the waiting continues! One more day!! My DS is on pins and needles trying to keep himself busy!! I think the hardest part for him is that none of his friends are going the military path and everyone already knows where they are attending this fall... so he is pretty quiet these days and trying his best to wait patiently...We are all so ready for some good news!! 24 more hours!! Fingers crossed for everyone left for positive news soon!!

Waiting on Harvard,Boston, Tulane, U Chicago and Vassar

“”It's great your kid has an appointment to USNA, but reading from the OP, she asked about our kid's plan Bs, while we wait for our kid's Plan A - USNA. Congrats and thanks for telling us your kid has an appt. to USNA. There is a DIY 2023 appointment thread. Meanwhile, this thread is about kids waiting for word from USNA.

See below original post. For my DD we are unsure of plan A, B and C. While Naval is in the mix so is NROTC (we were “waiting”) and also “waiting” for many others.

“”””We need to pass the time somehow. Let’s be positive! Anybody want to say what colleges that have been accepted to so we can see how many awesome kids there are here ?!?! I’m regularly impressed by the caliber of people in this forum. It’s not easy to even be in this situation. Everyone is exceptional. What’s your plan b or c?”””””

As I mentioned above I find it troubling the negative posts. Which I believe triggered another attack. I wish your child the best.

This drip drip drip - one persona at a time - approach to notifying people is quite odd. I don't know the USNA's process - but my guess is they could handle the notifications using an alternate approach that is both more efficient and less stressful for the candidates.

I didnʻt want to jinx my DS so I did not join until today! He received his TWE this morning, which we were kind of expecting. I am not sure if he will be competitive to reapply because his Plan A/B is to take a year and play Junior Hockey and take a couple of classes. After watching his two older sisters go through the college process Iʻve learned (the hard way) that things pretty much work out the way they are supposed to.

To those having a hard time with Plan B, Iʻll say this: jump right in! Attitude is everything after disappointment.

DD17 is currently a Sophomore at another school as a D1 athlete and a double major Chemistry/Philosophy. DD14 just graduated as Captain of her D1 Rowing team with a degree in Biology, Molecular Cell Biology. Neither of my girls attended their first choice school but had/are having an unbelievably positive experience. Sometimes the path youʻre put on is the path you need to be on. Iʻve seen enough twists and turns in my kids lives with school and sports to know this; keep showing up, keep a positive attitude, and donʻt let anyone tell you what you are.

Congrats to our new USNA class of 2023! Beat Army!

First, this appears to be a drip drip because you are watching this Forum, where a limited subset of candidates are self reporting. From my perspective, having watched the process for several years, I see a much more systematic process in building a class. I am not going to share my observations publicly, as it largely speculation and deduction on my part, and would add to the angst this Forum creates. The Appointment process to USNA is unlike any normal college; other schools don't have to deal with issues like Medical qualifications/waivers and Nomination pools. This is like one of those games where you play chess on multiple levels.

Could Admissions do it better ? Of course, any process can be approved. That said, the process works pretty well and every year we get great Appointees.

DS originally had a DQ for medical. Received word this morning that he is now medically qualified. We’re keeping hope that this is a good sign that they’ve made this move in a positive direction even this late in the game.

Ouch. Was hoping the medical waiver was a good sign.
