We will be because the boy is going to be an officer in the Air Force or Navy, so I guess we will learn how to better manage the waiting to know as he navigates his military career. But today..... today I am frustrated.... today I have a headache from lack of sleep.... today I am a struggling helicopter mom.

I have heard so many good things about Texas A&M, that I would say you all are blessed however things work out!
 
Long time lurker, first time poster... Cliff notes background... My DS is still awaiting medical clearance. He was sent on 4-4-19 for 3 additional eye exams. DoDMERB says he is "Pending disqualification" for exophoria more than 6 diopters. When he went to his AMI, the eye doc. said, "I have no idea why they sent you to me. Your eyes are perfect!" The question is, with having not received medical clearance yet, is he SOL or does he still have a shot until he would receive the TWE? We check several times a day for any update on the portal or the DodMERB site and just like everyone else, it's excruciating! He's taking official athletic recruiting visits this week and next as back up plans. Any advice anyone may have to share would be so appreciated!

If you all start doing athletic recruiting visits, I would refer you to my suggestions I made last week regarding "lessons learned" in the blue chip athletic recruit string that I have been pushing for the last 3/4 year.

YES! Its awesome. We are so blessed. With his NROTC scholarship, corps and engineering scholarship, and a little (very little) student loan its paid for. He will get to stay close to home and his grandpa is even going to buy him a new(er) car to drive ((a mustang!)). I'm so excited for him. If he gets into USAFA he doesn't get the car! lol (at least for two years as it wouldn't make sense to buy one and then he leaves and cant drive it for two years). I kinda wish this wasn't an anonymous forum because I would totally post a few of his senior pics. I'm so so proud of him. #WaitingClubIsHard

I’ve read on this site that several DS/DD had their portals updated after midnight while others during the day. I guess it will happen when it happens. The wait is almost over.
 
My son hasn't heard anything either... Nothing new in the portal...still waiting.
Has anyone heard if today is the true deadline? We heard some may hear in May, due to the USAFA admissions being behind. Anyone else hear this?

A lot of letters have went out today but not everyone will hear right now. From my understanding it is possible to hear in May but it is very unlikely.

Still waiting, Still medically DQ since Sept 18. Bothered by the medical DQ (for asthma even though I'm a three sport athlete and varsity in two), but very hopeful because of no TWE yet!

From reading the forum and talking to my ALO it’s seems like a big wave came through today. I could be wrong but that’s my observation. It seemed like the vast majority where TWE’s but again I am just inferring. We should all find out soon hopefully.

Reading the same forums but don't see any evidence of a "big wave" today. For USNA, yes, a lot of TWE's. Not for USAFA. One poster reported a TWE here but his ds didn't complete the USAFA app.

My DS emailed his Admissions Counselor last week and this was the response, “Selections are currently underway. We expect that most candidates will know results by the end of next week.“
We are going to execute plan B by May 1st which is an AFROTC Scholarship to University of Colorado. He’s currently on pins and needles and I’m just so proud of what he has accomplished thus far. He is far more qualified than I ever was back in the 1980’s but only time will tell. :)
 
As many have stated before on various threads, the waiting is normal and part of military life. We are currently waiting to find out about my husband's contract, which was won by his current company a few years ago, then re-bid and won by his former company last summer, then protested, re-bid, and won by a different company, and protested again. Sigh! It's been a crazy waiting game as a DoD contractor as well! LOL Thankfully, my DS has his father's waiting skills and patience rather than mine!

This is the first time I have heard this. I thought the portal only updated once a day very early in the a.m., anyone heard of a middle of the day or evening update? If this is really true I will find DS checking his portal even more obsessively. LOL
