USAFA Class of 2023 Appointment Thread

This whole process has truly been a roller coaster of emotions for our whole family...from hope to despair to frustration and then back to hope. But I've come to realize that I am blessed beyond measure because I have an amazing daughter regardless of whether she gets an appointment or not. She is beautiful, smart, tough, driven, a born leader, and always sticks up for the little guy. She is also her own worst critic but is not afraid to admit it when she needs help. She feels honored to be counted among the remaining candidates who are still waiting. The USAFA has been her dream since 8th grade, she has done all she can to make the dream a reality and I couldn't be more proud of the young woman she has become. We have put it in God's hands...He is the master planner. I'm just excited to see what her future holds because appointment or not it will be AMAZING!! Wolfrunner42, we are in the exact same boat as my DD is waiting. Swap out IL for IN and we are living the same life, even down to the dream beginning in 8th grade. We aren't a "military family" and the only explanation for this being her dream is that it's the path God led her heart. She was 6 weeks old when 9/11 occurred. This has been her driving motivation for serving our country. She is much stronger than I will ever be. Regardless of what happens, I'm so proud of her- for everything she's already done- and for everything she has yet to do- whether that's at USAFA or at the private university she's committed to as Plan B. During the grueling waiting process (her application has been complete since early December, and she has Congressional and Senatorial nominations) we have relied on our faith, learned (or rather, been reminded) to put our total trust in God. Also, I came across a certain quote that has brought me some comfort: "When nothing is certain, anything is possible." At this time, she doesn't have a TWE so that still means anything is possible, even if hope is wavering. I have lurked on the forum for a while but didn't want to necessarily join the discussion. But I felt motivated to let you know that you are not alone. Without getting into the gender argument, I think it takes a special female to go through this process knowing the ratio of males to females. We are blessed to have confident young women who are not intimidated by that. Good luck to you and everyone still holding their breath and waiting.

Not sure if everyone gets the same generic statement, but the letter recommends Calculus, which my son did not take in high school, and also retaking SAT's. He does plan to retake the SAT so he can qualify for AF ROTC scholarship. The requirements drop sophomore year in college and he can switch from AROTC if he really wants to go for it. At VMI, they have to commit by junior year.

Best of luck and CONGRATS to all who made it. Amazing accomplishment! If anyone gets a "just kidding" letter after TWE, please inform us! It's rare, but it can happen.
