Turned Down Today

I'm sorry you got turned down... I know its rough but it sounds like your plan b is great too. Keep going strong next year, they do recognize when people reapply.

Good Luck young man, I hope you keep working towards your goals and succeed wherever you are!

Just got the email at 1017. I will be attending the New Mexico Military Institute as my plan be and do plan to reapply next year. Congrats to all who received offers of appointment.
Sorry for the TWE, Joe. I was pulling for you. Best wishes for a good year at NMMI, and for your course beyond.

hi Joe, my son was turned down today as well. he is thinking of going to either Marion or NMMI as well. Any reason you decided on NMMI over Marion?

I was looking at the academy prep programs and talked to my states rep from Usmma and he told me that NMMI’s prep is really good and then I talked to another man who works closely with them. He told me that NMMI’s prep has a 98% acceptance into the academies after one year. I also qualify for in state tuition for the New Mexico based school.

Sorry to hear about your son's TWE slump. Good luck to him in his new path. He must be an amazing young man to have made it this far!

After receiving a TWE on May 8th, 2018, my DS pinned the rejection letter to his bedroom wall and set a course to get into USMMA in 2019. He took Calculus 1 and 2, Biology and Chemistry along with playing a Varsity sport at his plan B University. After another nervous spring waiting on Hold, he received his BFE on April 17th.
Long story short, If you want it bad enough, YOU will get into the Academy. My DS said he is glad it took two years to get in. The process of applying last year prepared him to be a better candidate this year and spending a year at a traditional university gave him no doubts that he is making the right choice entering USMMA.
Last bit of advice is, it is not ultimately where you go to prepare yourself for next year's application, it is what you do there that will count the most with the selection committee. Good Luck!
