The Waiting Club

TWE as well. DQ (shoulder surgery in 2017) with a waiver requested by USAFA, but no luck. Not sure if applying next year will fix the DQ issue or its permanent problem that I can't go around.

My DS also received his TWE this morning. Disappointing, but he will move forward with Plan B- using his AFROTC scholarship at University of Colorado.

TWE this morning.

Same here. A very long 2 years to say the least.
EagleLegion14 so sorry to hear that ! DS in same boat reapplicant haven’t heard from him this AM but I’m guessing TWE in mail . You worked so hard , I don’t understand . They say the academy favors reapplicants but I’m really doubting that now . I hope you have a plan B that you will be happy with !

Hoping your son is still in the run if he did not hear this morning....I will be sending positive thoughts for a great outcome!!!
Thanks jeng ! Just heard from him his portal updated to non- select . Oh heartbreaking past several years . Did everything possible . Well after rightfully mourning for a week time to focus on Plan B !

Oh, man...I was really hoping for the best for him. He will do well with whatever he chooses. We have started the Plan B process now and have to believe things happen as they should. Wishing you all the best!

Those who received a TWE....Best of luck to you....but...you should know while I don't know your circumstances please remember some with the denial letter on portal later get appointed. I know of someone at USAFA who received a denial and then an appointment. One on the Monday before IDAY. Some people will change their mind or even unfortunately for them get hurt. USAFA will fill those spots. So go with plan B as you should. In fact I tell people to accept everything because even in USAFA you can change your mind and at least you have plan B in September. Good luck...don't give up however!

TWE this am, but she feels good. She said she's excited for the opportunity for AROTC and a full scholarship to Embry Riddle for astronautical engineering. As she said, how could she be upset studying at the top aerospace program in the heart beat of the space program. When did they get so smart? She was also selected yesterday as a semi finalist by US Dept of Education for Presidential Scholar, so I think that helped soften the blow. Good luck to all. No matter the outcome you've only grown from the journey. Never be afraid to risk.

DS received his TWE this morning as well. Disappointed but glad to have tried.. Will try for Class of 2024 for sure..

Our son received a TWE this morning.

So did the majority of his friends who were incredible candidates.

It's hard to articulate the depth of our disappointment. He has worked extremely hard and has lived and breathed the USAFA dream for years. I am so proud of him. God's ways are higher than our ways, and we trust in His sovereignty and goodness. He has a wonderful Plan B with a Type 1 AFROTC scholarship. How could we be anything but thankful?

We are so grateful for all the blessings that have come through pursuing an appointment, especially the support of family and friends.

I do! Actually considering busting my a** this year and applying again for a 3rd time with even more improved stats...

Good for you Eagle Legion! My DS got in on his 2nd attempt but one of his buddies (also a self prep at MMI) didn’t get in until his 3rd attempt. Now they’re both at the academy! I promise the long run won’t feel as long as it seems for you right now. Very best to you!

DS would totally accept one day before Iday ! I’d be kinda pissed though since signing a 1 year lease for his new digs at his Plan B college that little sh#*+% better give me his paycheck to pay the lease off lol

Glad to find this thread! We are in the same "waiting" mode with all here. DD checking her portal twice a day. Congratulations to all who received acceptances; perseverance and grit to those still waiting. Good luck!

DS received Falcon Scholarship this morning - he also has an AFROTC scholarship. Any seasoned players out there with advice? We need to research the Falcon Scholarship opportunity more - anyone know the percentage of those who receive an appointment after completing the year of prep? We'll scour these threads for more information also. Hang in there to all those who are waiting!
DS also received a Falcon Foundation Scholarship offer this morning and has 1 week to decide. He also has a 4 year AFROTC scholarship to consider (and a USMA appointment which he has decided to decline). After mourning the loss of a direct entry appointment for a few hours, I think he will take the FF Scholarship as 99.8% get appointments upon successful completion of their prep year.
Which Prep school did your son decide on? Ours selected NWP - can’t wait!
