DD received her rejection notice this morning. Unfortunately she was at school when she found out and had to leave class [emoji26]. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone on these forums, they were a HUGE help while we played the waiting game. Congratulations to all who made it and to those who didn't, keep your heads held high...you made it to the final cuts, that's more than most. Your futures await...make them AMAZING!!

Wolfrunner42, I feel you. Our DD also got the TWE yesterday morning. Very sad day after four years of dreaming and working toward this. That's hard to watch as a parent. We visited the academy last summer and she felt in her bones that was where she belonged. She met a couple of fellow female rugby cadets and has stayed in contact with them. Everyone was excited at the possibility of her heading there in June.

We had a long talk last night and she's so mature. I just was so proud listening to her. She feels like she has let others down who believe in her... who believed she is an example of the change that the world needs to see. She's just going to have to change the world through another path God has chosen. (Or, she may reapply! Not sure yet.) For now, I will have a Butler Bulldog this fall and we are very excited for that. Go Dawgs!

To everyone else that received the TWE yesterday- you rock! You far surpassed the efforts of 99% of your classmates to make it this far (made up statistic-ha!). Most "regular people" (like our family) have NO CLUE how intensive this process is. Even to just receive a nomination is incredible! God bless everyone and good luck!

Best of luck to you....but...While am not trying to get your hopes up....you should know.... while I don't know your circumstances please remember some with the denial letter on their portal will still get offered an appointment. I know of two people here at USAFA who received a denial and then an appointment. One on the Monday before IDAY. Some people will change their mind or even get hurt. USAFA will fill those spots. So go with plan B as you should. In fact I highly recommend to everyone to accept plan B because even at USAFA you can change your mind and get hurt in BCT and at least you have plan B in September. Good luck...don't give up however!

My DS go one yesterday too - it's a kick in the teeth. I feel terrible for all the kids that made it this far, and received a TWE. As a parent, I'm not angry or feel like my special snowflake is better than anyone else, unfulfilled is probably the best word (I don't want to use the word "devastation" because we've seen devastation and are completely grateful for what we have). The pool that was selected is very talented and driven - no doubt. We have mixed emotions - DS finally has the weight lifted and is happy with his Plan B, and is being positive. He has been very fortunate and we count our blessing. We have a strong faith and know that this is what he has to do right now. Good luck to all those in waiting list still!

DD also has a solid plan B, she was disappointed for sure but on the flip side she is excited that she can now still pursue her music (she placed first in state for bari sax) and play softball at the college level. She would've sacrificed these things had she been offered an appointment though and she still plans to serve her country in one capacity or another! [emoji631] [emoji106]

I’ve never posted in the forum, but have been following for some time. I appreciate all of you in a way words can’t describe. Only candidates and the parents can fully understand the depth and breath of this process. It’s been blessing to have all of you on the other end of this computer.

My DS got a TWE as well yesterday. He was very disappointed to say the least, handled it like a champ. It was hard to watch as his momma and I may have taken it harder than him. The sting of rejection is real . However, today he emerged with his college polo and seemed fresh and looking forward to apartment hunting. He’s headed to the University of Florida in the fall and will join AFROTC detachment 150. In addition, he will start flying lessons as soon as we can get him scheduled.

Much love and prayers to all of you!! It sincerely has been an honor to be in such great company. These are some pretty amazing future leaders!!!

Good luck to your son. Ours is a USAFA grad about to start UPT. I asked him about his class makeup and about half are ROTC. He said nobody cares where you are from because we are all AirFOrce 2ndLTs...as it should be.
