Hello, first of I want to say thanks to everyone who responds on these forums, you've all been a great amount of help over the course of this process. I accepted my offer of appointment about a month and a half ago, and am obviously extremely excited. However, about an hour ago, I was driving and went to get into a left hand turn lane. I wasn't speeding, wasn't doing anything illegal, but I misjudged the distance between me and the car in front of me and thought that the row of cars would start to move before I reached the car in front of me, hence I didn't stop all the way and came in a bit too fast. I bumped the end of the car in front of me, and there is only some VERY minor scratches on the bumper. We exchanged info and all that, and now I'm not sure if I need to report this to the usna or not. I greatly appreciate any advice!

You are fine. Your PTR is arriving this week if you haven’t gotten it yet. It will tell you what to do and when to report something.

I guess I should probably have waited for the ptr to come before posting. Thanks for the response though

Sorry if you dont know the answer to this... but this Is the first time anything like this has happened to me. After it is reported to insurance, will there be any legal ramifications like with police records or tickets? Or will it be an exclusively insurance company affair, like raising rates? Thanks.

Were the cops called? If not ... you are fine. Just maybe an adjustment to the cost of insurance. ;)

No cops thankfully. Appreciate the response

My DS did the same thing after he received his offer. It must be a "thing".
He was concerned about it as well, but it was no big deal.

You didn’t do anything illegal and you also exchanged information which was responsible on your part. You shouldn’t be worried about anything.

Congratulations on your appointment and best of luck for Plebe Summer!
