Where can I read to learn about the components of BCT beyond the physical challenges that are often mentioned? Not limited to these, but, for example, what academic testing is done? What military training is done?
 
Based on what DS shared with me, nothing can fully prepare you for BCT. But certainly be physically ready!

For those who are still young enough (in high school or younger), police explorer programs, Devil Pups, and the right Boy Scout troop can all help prepare for BCT.
 
you will be wearing a yellow hat. Also study up on the language you did in high school. They will be administering a language test to see if you can validate the 2 semesters of foreign language. So unless you want to minor in a language, do good on that test so you can have one less class doolie year. You will be thankful.
