Hi ive gotten my latest ACT and got a 30 composite, 30 on english, 26 on math, 35 on reading, and a 28 on science and a 11 on writing. My school does not officially offer a class rank, but if I push hard enough for it I could get it; However, I do have a poor GPA (3.3 unweighted. 3.7 weighted) so i was wondering would it be beneficial and even more important would it be moral if I did not ask for class rank and ask to be ranked based on my ACT?

I recently attended an admissions presentation with a regional commander. He said that admissions office will calculate class rank from ACT or SAT if class rank is not offered. He said that it all goes through your school counselor; if your school does not rank, admissions will ask your counselor to list your rank anyways if possible. If your counselor can't do that, admissions will ask for a range. If that is not possible either, then admissions will use your test score primarily to determine rank.

I think you should talk to your counselor beforehand and persuade him to not list a rank since your school does not officially rank.

Class rank is certainly important, if your school ranks. But even then, SAs put greatest emphasis on your transcript and school profile. They want to know that you took the hardest classes available -- especially in STEM -- and that you excelled. That balances out all the "weighted" noise and weeds out the GPA "chasers." It comes down to, how well did you do with what your school has to offer. Throw in ACT/SAT and they'll have a good idea of your ability to handle SA academics.

One of the most difficult obstacles for Plebes to overcome is math. You need to bring your math score up. The next obstacle is chem. You need to be very strong in both of these areas. Your school may be able give some direction on outside assistant and fortify your foundation. You may want to consider a math and chem class at your local Junior College. I know this is not what you want to do this summer, but if you're serious, it could be a good path to take.

This. Taking summer classes would show dedication and would also prepare you for Plebe year course work.
In addition, try to get your math and science ACT's above a 30. Having all your ACT scores in the 30's would help. Do questions. Then more questions. I think I read that about 500 questions are equal to about a 1 point increase in your ACT score. Remember, they super score your ACT. So you could go in and just take the math/science if you wanted.
