hello, I am going to apply for usma class of 2024 this coming fall and I was just going over my overall application and I was wondering if USMA takes cheerleading as a serious sport. It's hard as if not harder than many of the regular sports but people still seem to think of it not as a sport. I have been lettered for both fall cheerleading and winter competition cheerleading and I am captain of both teams since my junior year. I just want to know what people think...

Nothing wrong with cheer.....they do have the Rabble Rousers!

The key is.....a Cadet must be well rounded. Cheer offers team work, competition and leadership. Those are important elements for an applicant. I would continue to strive for high academic marks which out-weigh athletics.

Continue to work hard on your goals!! It does matter!!

Be sure to have other ECs that demonstrate commitment and leadership.
I agree it is harder than folks give it credit for. Two comp seasons ago, my DD’s squad had a higher injury % than the football team...
