Hi everyone! I received my TWE during April and will be doing Air Force ROTC at UC Berkeley. I am reapplying to the academies next year. Is there anything I could do to affect my admissions decision at this point? I have read of people getting appointments days before I-day, but I don't think anything I do now could affect my chances- especially after receiving my TWE. Thanks in advance!

Probably the only "deals" that are struct from this point forth will be for superstar athletes. Thinking revenue sports(football, hockey, fencing, distance running events) of course they probably all struck a deal by May 1st. Perhaps any deals that get made at this point are "special wait listers"(geniuses that decided they wanted to serve their country at the last minute, military contractor's kids, general's kids........just kidding....it's been a little quiet on the forum, just trying to spice up the dialog......seriously just kidding on the last couple, well maybe most of them, except for football and perhaps hockey:)

IMHO, it's about on par with winning the lottery. Focus on your freshman ROTC year. As the dad of a direct appointee and now a re-applicant, I can offer some advice. Move on from the class of 2023. Put all your focus on next fall. Review the stickie for re-applicants. Take tough classes similar to SA freshman classes, excel academically, be the best cadet in ROTC you can be, crush the physical fitness requirements, join the Arnold Air Society, participate in as many ROTC activities as possible, retake and improve SAT/ACT scores, continue to build/take advantage of leadership/community service opportunities and just as important, enjoy your freshman year of college. Oh, delete your social media accounts.

OP- You are right there is nothing for you to do but wait and see. It is still possible to receive an appointment and your odds are much better then the lottery. It does happen and I know someone at USAFA here now that was appointed the Monday before I-DAY. Some who accepted their appointments change their mind or unfortunately get hurt. Some of those slots will be filled. Continue with your plan B. But don't give up hope. Best of luck to you.

Do you know if there are any societies such as the Arnold Air Society for NROTC midshipman? I looked it up and it looked interesting and a good thing to be a part of as a cadet.

Thank you in advance and congratulations to your DS!

There might be something that is college related and varies by college. I don't recall any formal service organization affiliated with NROTC. My son's unit did do volunteer/service work together but no organization like Arnold Air.

That is the plan!

Thank you! They could appoint me June 26th and I would be there... but I know I can't put all my hope in that!

My son just received this morning after denial last month. What a blessing, keep the faith.
Bigrod. Did you join facebook yet? It's the next logical progression to move from this forum to FB after you receive an appointment. You can thank me later. :)
