Do reporting cadets need to send in a full set of dental x-rays and have wisdom teeth removed prior to reporting? Do not recall seeing this on any of the enrollment forms.

This is covered on page 13 of the Cadet Handbook, and also on the admissions website for appointees to the Class of 2023 under "Getting Started" paragraph 2, Medical information. If wisdom teeth have not been previously removed, CGA will remove them sometime during the cadet's 4 years. Also x-ray submission is only for extensive dental history, as all swabs will receive dental x-rays at CGA.

That is what I thought but this is what is posted on under "Getting Started" paragraph 2, Medical information and what is listed in the handbook. So the handbook should be the authority?

Dental: Have a thorough exam and complete recommended treatment, including extraction of wisdom teeth, by June 1st to allow full recovery. If you have significant dental history such as cleft palate repair, orthognathic surgery, or oral facial trauma, submit these records. Finally, submit dental xrays taken after January 1st on a CD, with your name and exposure date marked, along with your Immunization Record Form.

The handbook states: The Pre-Training Screening also includes a dental exam, but it is recommended that you have a complete dental exam and finish any required treatment, including extraction of wisdom teeth, before June 1, 2019. If you have significant dental history, such as cleft palate repair, orthognathic surgery or oral facial trauma, please submit a copy of those records with your Immunization Record Form. Dental x-rays will be taken after you arrive at the Academy; however, you may submit current (taken after January 1, 2019) dental x-rays if available with your Immunization Record Form. These x-rays should be submitted on CD with your name and the exposure date(s) clearly marked.

That's the same as it has always been. If the x-rays have been taken recently, they will delay subsequent ones at CGA. This is not a big issue. All cadets get excellent dental care at CGA, and if x-rays are needed, they will be given. If you have x-rays taken after January 1, then send them, if not, no need to worry. Feel free to reach out to Nurse Purdy if you have specific questions.

My DD decided to get her wisdom teeth pulled prior to going to NAPS for CGAS. According to her it was a great decision not having to deal with it like some of her friends had to during the program.
