Annapolis Hotel Options

I will be at Annapolis around 22 or 21 of June for Plebe Summer.

I am looking for any cheap hotels that are near Naval Academy. My parents are coming with me, so we're probably looking at 2 beds in one room or two rooms with single beds.

I am on a budget, so anything will be fine.

Side Note: I didn't know whether to put this on Off-Topic or USNA, so I just resorted in putting it out here for appointees like me. I apologize if it affects anything.

Thank you all so much! I can't wait to see everyone at Naval Academy!

Hotels further away from USNA can also be cheaper. BWI airport area has tons of hotels and generally on big weekends like I day can run much cheaper than Annapolis. If you are a budget this is an option. Takes about 30 minutes to get to BWI with light traffic.

Sorry, I almost choked when I saw "cheap" and Annapolis in the same thread. Hotels in the downtown area are pricey...particularly when big events (like Reunions, Parents Weekend, and I Day occur). Prices are a bit more affordable the further you get away from downtown. There are several lower priced (still not cheap, but not outrageous) hotels out West Street toward the Mall.

For some, the convenience of staying within walking distance is worth it -- driving and parking downtown is a hassle. On the other hand, you can take a lot of Uber's from the outer reaches of town for the price difference in hotels (and several of the hotels have shuttles to get you into town).

there are a bunch of hotels out on Riva Rd. Some of them, like the DoubleTree have a free shuttle that will take you downtown
they are much cheaper than the ones within walking distance

My DD and I always stay in Bowie, which is a few miles away but has decent hotels for a little less than in Annapolis. At least they were during STEM, CVW, and NASS. Also tell your parents to rent a small car! The streets of Annapolis are tiny and parallel parking is a must. The smaller the car, the easier the fit. Best of luck plebe!

No issue staying at a distant hotel. Just allow yourself PLENTY of time to get to USNA. Keep in mind that 1200 plebes want to be at the same place at the same time. And you don’t want to be late.

That's one way to make a grand entrance ! I'm sure it happens (although I expect a lot more are WAY early, than late!), but it could throw the whole well oiled machine off the tracks.

I don't think its been said here yet this year, but the gouge is to stay away from the entrance to Alumni Hall (or wherever you report) if you are early, or you will get sucked into the process like a black hole.

Something to consider when comparing cost of Airbnb to hotels is the cost of food. A hotel might have a free breakfast, but as someone on the road quite a bit most of them are meh and would get old after a month. If you get an Airbnb with a kitchen you will probably save $20-$100/day in food cost per person.

True, but one of the great things about visiting Annapolis is the great restaurants ! There's a long thread here about all the great places to eat !
I don't disagree. But not for breakfast, lunch, dinner for over a month. That would break almost anyone's bank.

No kidding...particularly in Annapolis. I've always said that Annapolis is a lot more fun as a Grad, and money to enjoy the town. Besides the restaurants, there is a jeweler in Downtown Annapolis that my DW likes....alot !

I got lucky in that respect. More of sneakers and jeans type. My wife didn’t even want a diamond for an engagement ring. Just a wedding band.
But she makes up for it with fast cars.

Take a look on Airbnb. There’s still availability in a wide price range for the week of I-Day, and I think you and your parents would be much more comfortable if you had your own rooms! To me, that’s also a great money saver since you can choose what meals you want to go out for, but have breakfast and lunch items, coffee, water/soft drinks, etc. at your rental.
