My DD and I are confused. She hasn't received a BFE or a TWE for the USMA or for USMAPS and yet here we are in the middle of May.

She's 3Q but doesnt have a nom. Her MOC says that if she receives an appointment they'll give her a nomination. But, she's been told that her whole candidate score isn't high enough to warrant one yet.

Incidentally, she had a nom for USNA where she's currently on the wait list for NAPS.

Any thoughts?

So what did USMA admissions say when you called them about this?

I'm in the same boat but am no longer stressed. USMA has handed out their appointments and they're just waiting on the last folks to accept. When folks decline you move up the list. It's like the playoffs and you're that long shot wild card team hoping to make it. You're good enough to be in the hunt but not quite there. If you make it, it will be glorious but if not you'll be stronger next year. My plan B is solid and I'll apply again next year. The good news is that my RC knows me and is very responsive which is a good sign. Good luck!

Great mind set.
Best of luck to you.

He, or I should say his wife who handles all his business, said the same thing the MOC said; Your whole candidate score Isn't high enough to warrant a nomination.

Obviously I'm biased but I can't believe that's the case. To make matters worse, she has 2 cousins who've been accepted to USMAPS. They are both football players so it's a different situation... And she understands that but it still stings based on the strength of her application.

Are you referring to the Field Force Representative when you say his wife? Your DD should reach out to the RC at West Point and get the most current status.

Keep in mind that just because you are 3Q with a nomination does not mean you will get an appointment. It is about 50/50 nationally but impossible to tell by each MOC district. If she is 3Q, she cannot be considered for USMAPS.

Do you happen to live in the Houston area?

No we are in Alabama. And yes I believe he/she would be the FFR. No idea of they've reached out to West point. Is that something she could do?

Great advice. Thank you all for your input. I've shared this info with my DD so it's up to her at this point.

I'm a FFR in Alabama. Your FFR is probably relating info that they got from the RC, but by all means, have her contact the RC herself. He knows the exact situation.
Let us know how it all turns out!

Do they send TWE's if you don't have a nomination or do they just expect you to know that you didn't meet their admission requirement? Also, do they send TWE's if you do not make 3Q?
