Moving away from socks and underwear....

What is the best bug spray?

spray, cream, wipes? combination of all? Is there a brand that is preferable over others?

Most of the name brands will do.

It’s important to use a DEET product on skin and permethrin on clothing and gear. Using lotions and other good smelling stuff is worthless.

Son used lemon/eucalyptus last summer and was very popular with his company mates not only for smelling good but for sharing. Was very effective during July at Camp Buckner.

I would pre spray the boots with permethrin spray before leaving for rday. All the issued acu’s have tick repellent imbedded into the fabric. I also sent a mosquito head net and daughter said that was the one best surprise that she appreciated most.

I imagine it also worked against ticks and other ground force bugs.

I had a July adventure once which also ran into August but we were in malaria endemic Africa where the female anopheles required we slime our bodies with DEET spray. And take a Mefloquine pill. Came to find out later that Mefloquine has numerous bad effects including psychosis. I got a medal for running a successful anti-malaria campaign but turned a company-plus size force into a bunch of loons.
