Can our DS bring protein supplements on his first day July 5th? e is a football player and normally supplements are taking in conjunction with weight lifting. If so he could have it in his football equipment bag he will leave at the football office the morning of INDOC or keep with his personal stuff. Thoughs?

Coach Toop hates supplements. . .He flips his lid when he finds out the football guys are taking them.

Can’t give you a straight yes or no here but, as long as he doesn’t expect to have protein/supplements with him throughout indoc, it’s probably safe to bring them. Definitely would have to be able to store them somewhere until after Indoc. In all honesty, it probably isn’t worth the effort. A better bet would be to mail them to him via personal mail, amazon, etc. after indoc.

This is what my son did. When we saw him for Parents Weekend we brought some things he requested, including the protein powder.

If your son reads the nutrition guide he was sent, it says specifically that most supplements are not allowed by NCAA. And it also says to ask a coach. Plus the football equipment bags are searched so you'll need to ask a coach regardless before he is just caught with it.

If it's not allowed you may want to reconsider. My son doesn't play a sport. He was very very thin so he works out and takes the supplement to help him gain some weight.

The coaches don't really care about most of the freshmen. The only time I remember the coach mad was when a really good recruit QB quit during indoc. Probably won't play much freshman year anyways.

I would not say they do not care. I am coming in with only 3 more years of eligibility left because I started as a freshman at my last university. They sat down and came up with the plan to allow me to redshirt my plebe year allowing me to focus on academics more and get past the first trimester. I get to still do everything the team does, just not travel and play. This allows me to play 3/C, 2/C, and 1/C year.
