Plebe Summer Items

Bring their wallet with ATM card, credit card, SSN card, driver’s license. They will lock them up in their rooms and probably not touch them until a Mid Store run or the Plebe baseball outing. They have a locker in their rooms they can lock up items such as wallets. They will be issued locks for it and their drill rifle.

And report time’s vary. There doesn’t appear to be a rhyme or reason to them. It’s to prevent a line of 1000 Plebes. NAPS and priors actually report a day early and do their check in then. It’s a long maze in Alumni Hall. They will leave with a haircut and full uniform and a bag full of socks, underwear, shoes, PT gear, white works and tons of other stuff. They get issued stuff throughout the summer. The Navy has a lot of uniforms. Some process faster than others in Alumni. Can depend on the final medical check and other items. The last station is try all that on and ensure it fits. Well there were so few females in my class they had no females left to try on gear. So I got pulled out of line to go enter Alumni. And white works will eventually get washed and get much softer and also the tailors will shorten them in the first few days so they fit better.

And it’s probably time to do the annual mention of The Vortex/Wormhole at the doors of Alumni Hall. If you’re an appointee and standing too close, if the line gets short, regardless of your scheduled time and who you’re standing with, kindly folks will whisk you inside. If you’re waiting while a parent parks the car or for other family to meet up, loiter by the parade field gazebo or a few hundred paces away, outside the voracious vacuum intake by the main doors.

It certainly was true during the Plebe summer of 2016. Candy and other "junk food" was in fact confiscated within my DS's company. I can't speak to whether it happened last summer. I would also suspect the degree of enforcement may differ depending on each company-- as are a number of rules/policies.

It's definitely Company-dependent. My DS was in N25 during Plebe Summer 2016 and we sent his favorite candy and some homemade treats, all of which he received (and shared ... and consumed).
So, which company is candy friendly...I’ll be praying for that one for my plebe!! Lol

I’m with Old Navy BGO. But perhaps a bit tougher: If you’re asking such a question at this early stage, I’m wondering about your fit for USNA. I don’t know you, so will give you the benefit of the doubt.
I understand you may have military experience, but comments like this are not beneficial to anyone and don't add anything to the conversation. You're exactly right in saying you don't know this person so don't draw assumptions like these. We are all very new to this kind of stuff and are just looking for some clarification.

You understand you're talking about a post from a year ago (#4 in this thread) to an OP (#usnahopeful09) who just asked a question and never posted in the thread again, right? I don't think the OP was injured by the comment, and when you join the military you need to grow a thicker skin, anyway. Best of luck to you. I'm excited for this new chapter in your life to start on June 27th. Only 35 days to I-Day. Woo Hoo!

BuckeyeRN: My Mid was in N25 for Plebe Summer. 25 is a notoriously hardcore company, but our candy made it to our Mid.

Best of luck!

If you’re an athlete, bring equipment specific to your sport for training.
